We really do like the Nuvi 1450 GPS receiver it is accurate with the exception of new construction. It has several very nice features one of our favorites is the ability to locate historical sites in your area or find a 'greener' route. The lane view feature shows you an actual picture with road signs and lanes and is a HUGE help and very beneficial for my husband who is always panicked that he is in the right lane. The only downfall of the particular device we have is the lack of battery life. It is designed to allow you to take it with you as you walk and advertises a substantial battery life. We found this not to be true. It will not work without being plugged into our car. The manuals that came with the device are not very helpful we still have not determined if we can or how to change the battery. With that said we would purchase this item again.

Better than ever, Garmin 1450
Created: 02/07/10
I have had the Garmin line of GPS products for ever. Two in boats and four in trucks and cars. The Nuvi is by far improved over the prior model. My garmin receivers have been passed down over the years to family and all of them are still in service. Garmin is hard to beat.

Serves the purpose and doesn't cost $2200!

I purchased this GPS because I recently purchased a new car and it did not have one. If I had added it to the car, it would have cost me $2200, so I decided to try this. It works great. It really is easy to use... once it's loaded. Little difficulty with that, but solved by seller. Much clearer than my last one and I love the touch screen feature. It prepares you the street before you are going to make a turn. I actually also purchased the Garmin Nuvi 010-11280-00 Portable Friction Dash Mount and am very pleased with it. It "does not move" and the base can be folded down so that I can put my GPS easily into a storage box. I would definitely recommend this item.

Nice upgrade from the 255W
Created: 07/01/11
Our 2 year old Garmin 255W was due for a software update, but after checking the price I decided to move up to the 1450 with the larger screen. Glad I did! The screen is bright, and easily viewable from both the driver and passenger side when positioned in the center of the dash. Lane change directions are clearer, especially the feature that shows how many lanes turn, plenty of time before you get there. Nice in heavy traffic on unfamiliar routes. The "Rod Serling" male voice is loud, clear and easily understood - a real plus for a senior whose hearing is less than par. No bluetooth - but never use that anyway so I don't miss it. Also enjoy the elevation feature on this unit - which the older Garmin did not have. Nice when traveling in the mountains out west. Quick to switch to alternate routes - quicker than the 255W that use to bug us to death, making it necessary to plug in a via to shut it up. After a couple of months putting it through its paces, it has not let us down. Serving us well - thus I feel it deserves an excellent rating.

You can't go wrong with this Garmin
Created: 17/08/10
I purchased this Garmin because I like Garmin, its size is 5 inches easy to see at a glance. My first GPS was a Garmin, then I was given a Tom Tom and then a Magellan.....then a Navigon. I loved the Navigon because it showed the lane assist and at that time was the only GPS that did. When Garmin came out with it, it was a no brainer. I bought it. It not only tells you what lane to get in, but shows the hwy signs on the interstate so you know what lane to get into in advance. Those of us who travel know how valuable that is. My recommendation....buy it. Give yourself some peace of mind and less stress, you deserve it. Also has a great warranty.
