Highly satisfied!

After I spent some time surveying web comments and comparisons, the nuvi 3790T looked like *the* GPS navigator for us. We're no newbies to GPS's; we've had 6 or 8 of them ... handhelds ('cause we geocached for a few years) and a built-in in my '06 Honda Civic.
This little unit trumps them all. We bought it because the Class C motorhome we have on order has no GPS in it. We wanted to practice with it so I used the nuvi's suction cup and pasted it to the screen of the built-in Navi in my Honda ... and it sticks there like a dream. That alone is a big plus. I've had trouble getting other Garmins to stick to our windshield.
The Voice Command works well. We're getting used to each other. There are still times when I have to say "Costco" ... "Costco" (louder) ... COSTCO! (shouting). But in general, the voice recognition is great. Hands-free, eyes-free operation is a HUGE safety feature.
Our on-board NAVI from Honda, despite a recent $180 software update, is pathetic by comparison. That may partly be excused by rapid advances in technology, but bear in mind my initial 2K outlay. The look-ups on our AT&T telephones may have been better, but so far the nuvi's given me no reason to complain.
Besides, if there are new favorite destinations it's easy to record the lon-lat, tag it with an identifier (like "Liquor Store") and keep it under "Favorites".
The number of languages you can choose from is amazing. It's fun to try to find the Liquor Store in Japanese. ;-)
I guess I'd like a bigger screen and would prefer a built-in version in our new RV, but for the price the nuvi is fantastic.

I decided to replace my old 350 Garmin nuvi with a 3790T. Obviously before I purchased it I did some research about this product and read many reviews on line. As always with new products there were some cons and pros and I really had mixed feelings about it; however today was my first trip using this device. It is excellent, I'm really impressed how accurately it predicted the traffic trends and lead me through different roads to my destination. Later on I found out that the I-278 was totally packed and the cars were moving at 20 mph. I saw one pop up on the screen but it disappeared shortly after I start moving my car. I experienced no problems whatsoever - sharp screen, clear voice command, fast satellite acquisition, fast recalculating- A++++++++++ highly recommended.

Nuvi 3790T Not so Great

This is my third (and least favorite) Garmin. I bought it because I was lured by the ultra-slim design and the 3D terrain and building views. The design is excellent and the product is as easy to use as my previous Garmins, but I've had several disappointments. First of all, so far in Canada there is no 3D effects, this changes at the border going into the States however, but there is no where on their site that explains this is a feature only available in the US. I've also been disappointed with the touch screen, which is not well calibrated, and there is no easy way to re-calibrate it.
Another gripe? I bought the Europe map and the city map for London. The Garmin took about 20 minutes to figure I'd left North America, but once it came in the mapping was fine. As for the city map, forget about it. I NEVER could get the Garmin to pick up a satellite in London, too many buildings I assume, so it was extremely frustrating trying to find my way around Londo with ths feature. Totally NOT worth the money. As for the Garmin voices, come-on, you gotta be kidding. The pronunciation is horrific, especially where I live in Montreal, which has predominently French sounding names. They are completely not understandable, and they are only moderately better around my home in the Ney York Adirondacks. I totally preferred the version that didn't try to include street names.
I paid a lot of money for this Garmin, but it is certainly no better in terms of technology than my Nuvi 750. I'm generally disapointed.

This is the best GPS I've come across. It is packed with features. The slimline design is unbelievable. An excellent value for the money. One thing though, if you purchase this unit do not download the map update unless you first talk to a tech at Garmin. I registered my unit right away and decided to download the latest free update before the offer expired. The map update caused a problem with the speech recognition feature and now I can't use that feature to search for a new address until Garmin finishes writing a software patch update. It will say "this feature is not available for the United States" They told me it should be available in a couple of weeks. The touch screen is unaffected.

Wonderful GPS. As with all new electronics, it takes some time to learn the ins and outs of its function, but this GPS was fairly easy to pick up. Lots of cool features...some that I use, and some that I do not. The screen is beautiful. Extremely crisp and clear. The voice command is surprisingly useful. I do not ask it to reinvent the wheel, but it is effective when needed. I like the fact that voice command is prompted by speaking, and not having to hit a button like some other models. My only complaint is probably the bluetooth. It works well for all intensive purposes, but the speaker just isnt very loud. I'm not unreasonable though, so you can not expect much more out of a GPS speaker. It is probably as loud as it could be, given the application. My phone echoes quite often when I use it, but that is more than likely my fault as there are other cords and electronics in my vehicle which could be causing distortion. The ecoRoute function is interesting, but not completely useful. Others opinion on this could be completely different though. The junction view is really cool. Always pops at the right time. I can not comment on the traffic update function, as my city and surrounding areas do not support it.
