| The GlobalSat BU-353 is a compact waterproof GPS receiver with a non-slip magnetic base. It features a SiRF Star III GPS chipset and a built-in patch antenna for better signal reception and high level of accuracy. The GlobalSat GPS offers plug-and-play compatibility with any Windows or Mac desktop, laptop, or tablet with a USB port. The GlobalSat BU-353 works with most NMEA-compliant navigation software and can be used in a variety of vehicles, including municipal vehicles such as fire trucks. The GPS receiver comes with a 150-cm long cable, which allows the user to place it anywhere in the vehicle to get sufficient signal reception, and because it is waterproof, it can also be used in boats. The GlobalSat GPS has a high tracking sensitivity and locks fast onto satellites signals. Another handy feature of the GlobalSat BU-353 is that it doesn't need external power source, since the battery can be charged while data is transferred through the USB cable. | |

Cold start takes about 30 seconds to catch 2-3 satellites and about 2-3 minutes to download the almanach and the ephemeris.
Hot start takes 2-3 seconds to connect to 6-8 satellites, which is more than enough.
The magnet in the bottom of the receiver lets you put it on the roof of your car. Though the receiver feels great on the front panel.
I am totally satisfied with the device!

I bought this GPS receiver because it was recommended on the cruisersforum and I needed a simple, inexpensive GPS solution for my notebook that would plug into my USB port.
When it arrived I unpacked it, installed the USB driver, plugged it in and presto - it worked perfectly. It is small, well made, attractive looking, and best of all it finds the satellites quickly. Very accurate and works just fine with google earth and my navigation plotter.

This is a brilliant little device, especially for the price. I purchased it to use with nautical chart overlays in Google Earth as a simple position indicator and it works brilliantly.

) works good,but could do with gps software,it suggests google but too much effort setting travel destinations
