Album Notes
Queen: Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon.Producers include: Queen, Roy Thomas Baker, Mack, David Bowie, David Richards.Includes liner notes Jim Jenkins and Jacky Smith.Liner Note Author: Jim Jenkins.Unknown Contributor Roles: John Deacon ; Roger Taylor ; Brian May; Freddie Mercury.Queen began life in 1972, formed by guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor, and bassist Tim Staffell. When Staffell left, May and Taylor elected to form a new band with vocalist Freddie Mercury. Bassist John Deacon completed the lineup. Their self-titled debut fused 70s glam and late 60s heavy rock, and their second album fulfilled their early promise. SHEER HEART ATTACK consolidated their commercial standing. In 1975, they completed the seven-minute mini-opera "Bohemian Rhapsody." The startlingly unique track topped the UK charts for an astonishing nine weeks. The attendant album, A NIGHT AT THE OPERA reached number 1 in the UK and hit the US Top 5. A DAY AT THE RACES continued the bombast, the catchy "Somebody To Love" and anthemic "We Are The Champions" both reaching number 2 in the UK. Queen varied their formula with the 50s-style "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and the disco-influenced "Another One Bites The Dust." In late 1981, Queen were back at number 1 in the UK with "Under Pressure," a collaboration with David Bowie. In 1991, INNUENDO entered the UK charts at number 1. Sadly, the group's career effectively ended with the death of Mercury on 24 November 1991.

Queen Greatest Hits 1 & 2 CD

Created: 04/09/07
I have regretfully come to the conclusion that I can't play my old record albums forever, so lately I have been getting the CD counterparts for my old vinyl. My latest is Queens Greatest Hits 1 & 2. This is a 2 CD set with a total of 34 songs. The first thing that I liked about the set is that it spreads the better songs around. It doesn't jam them all on one disc, so that the second one never gets played. I had almost forgotten what great music these guys produced, and to hear it on CD is most wonderful. In particular the song Bohemian Rhapsody is beyond music. It is art. Art is the only way to properly state the essence of that music. If you are trying to decide if you should buy this CD or not, then think no more. While I will never lose the romance with all of my vinyl, getting this CD was a move worth making.

Queen's greatest hits was my wife's favorite CD.... well, was until it got stuck in our
car's CD player!! Honda said they would send it back when they removed it, that was 2 months ago!! Contacted them and they said they would check it out... so,
I bought one on ebay!! Now Honda is slow but not ebay. Was shipped and in no time had it playing in the new Honda CD player (it was kinda scary putting it into the player at first). Wife love's her Queen CD's but the jury is still out on the Honda radio. Queen still rocks!

Queen-Greatest hits I & II

Created: 06/02/09
This two disc set of Queen's greatest hits is exactly that, Great. What else can I say? My only dislike is that Freddy Mercury is no longer with us to write and preform great ROCK and ROLL music. You can't go wrong in purchasing this two disc set if your a Queen freak or simply an admiring fan.
