Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (DVD, 2000)

First off, this Andrew Lloyd Webber musical is NOT my favorite and bought it for my wife and daughter who LOVE this show. That having been established, I was pleasantly surprised by the performances and the presentation of this stage musical. Donny Osmond has pretty much made a career out of playing the lead in this show and it's obvious why he has earned accolades. Based on the London Palladium staging of the show, it is shot on stage, multi camera, sans audience so it flows seamlessly and without applause. Presented in 1.55:1 widescreen with both Dolby Digital and DTS audio, it is a grand spectacle ideal for the audio and videophile. Special features include a "Making of" featurette, production notes and cast and filmmakers credits.

I bought the DVD "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" as a gift for my high-school age daugher. This has always been a favorite story of hers, and we were exited to learn they had a DVD of the Broadway play starring Donny Osmond. The story-line is funny, witty, and entertaining while keeping true to the original bible story. It teaches a few lessons, all to those wonderful musical songs we all know and love. Donny Osmond "still has it" after all these years too. I would recommend "Joseph" to anyone who is considering purchasing it.

First of all the music and lyrics are by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Enough said. I love the movie because it is great family entertainment. My young children sing the songs often around our home. The Joseph story from the Bible also teaches some great moral lessons.

The only drawback is some of the costuming is a bit immodest for my taste.

This is an amazing production/musical about a Bible story. It's great for the entire family. The cast of characters and presentation of the story is a rival for Jesus Christ Superstar. This production has been around since the 60's and Andrew Lloyd Webber shines, as usual, in this made-for-school kids production.

We ordered this for our 4 year old granddaughter. She had it on VHS but wore out the tape. We were excited to find in on DVD for her. It arrived quickly, well packed, and in original wrapper. DVD is high quality, and completely as described. It plays beautifully on their HD flatscreen. Picture is excellent. This is a great recording of the live play, and Donny Osmand is wonderful in the part of Joseph. It is a great play for kids. It is a Bible based story, and follows pretty closely to the orginal story of the Bible Joesph. If you like Andrew Lloyd Webber, you will love this one too. Was new as described. Our granddaughter watches it over and over. She is once again singing and dancing her heart out...Thank you.
