Konica Hexanon AR 40mm f1.8 on Olympus E-510
Created: 08/10/10
I'm a big fan of the Hexanon AR lens, in the first place because of their high quality, and secondly because they can be modified to mount on any 4/3 dslr.
These lens are a affordable substitute for the quite expensive digital lens, and they perform amazingly well.
You'll inevitably miss the ease of AF (auto focus)and other goodies the digital lens offers, but with a bit of exercise that's something you can live with.
I can't find one single thing to dislike on these legacy glass.
Would I buy this lens again? Most likely, no! I mean who needs two of the same toy? But I'll surely buy another Hexanon AR lens with a different focal lenght, whenever the price us right.
Yes, I recommend trying out legacy glass on your dslr!!!

Konica Hexanon 40mm 'pancake' lens
Created: 12/06/10
This light weight, low profile lens by Konica is considered to be the sharpest manual focus lens ever made. My own experience with this lens on film camera ( Konica T-3 ) and now on Olympus DSLR proves that out. Images taken with this lens, is sharp, sharp, sharp. Color tones are typical of Hexanon lens - bright and contrasty. The focal length and light weight are also desirable features of this remarkably sharp lens. So is there anything negative about this great normal lens? Well, yes, there is. At the widest open aperture, f1.8, the image is bit soft. However this is common for most lenses. For this 40mm Hexanon lens, all it takes is one stop closer - at f2.8 to make the image sharp again.
All in all, this is one of the best lenses made by Konica.

Fantastic lens, sharp, portable (a little bigger than the panny 20mm pancake). I do like the 57mm f1.4 a little bit more, but that acts like a tele on my E-PL1 and GH2, so when space is a constraint I throw this one on.

Little gem found recently, light weight and sharp even at f1.8 wide open. Best fit for NEX or EOS M mirrorless camera. With 1.5 crop fact, it have just little narrow fov as the standard lens, made it best for portrait with blurred background. And the most important it's super cheap with such fast aperture. Excellent all the ways!!!

Awesome lens. I'm using this on a micro 4/3 Olympus Pen body. This lens along with an adapter is smaller than the Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 45mm f/1.8 Lens. This Konica lens focus ring is smooth to boot, excellent all around!
