The Little Mermaid (VHS, 1998, Special Edition)

I'm not sure how you can fault The Little Mermaid - a delightful Disney cartoon that has lasted the test of time and remains, years after its release, one of the classic Disney movies. Like most Disney films, The Little Mermaid is rich with family entertainment - the story and visuals that delights kids and the sophistication that adults enjoy in family films. Kids enjoy Ariel and her lineup of underwater friends - adults enjoy the dialouge and story. While the visuals aren't necessarily the finest ever - the music, the characters and the humor are plenty entertaining and certainly long-lasting.

The Little Mermaid DVD has been in high demand on eBay for as I long as I've checked - and for good reason! This is a classic DVD that any family will enjoy. Excellent addition to any DVD library. Enjoy!!

I purchased this video to build on my Disney movie collection for the kids. This is a very entertaining video and serves its purpose wonderfully. The kids can watch it over and over and love the original songs. Some of the characters can be a little scary, I suppose, but nothing that has caused any nightmares or fears in my young children. I was concerned about what the condition of a used video would be, but it has proved to be fine for the kids, no damage at all to the tape. The color of the film appears a little dark, but I'm guessing that may be from age of the video itself. Again, nothing that the kids notice, and they will enjoy it for years to come I expect. I would reccomend purchasing this video used if your intention is to add to a well loved and watched collection for kids. If your intention is to add to a "colletor's" collection, maybe you would want to consider new or rarely watched editions.

Someone told me a few weeks back that they were going to again release this masterpiece onto the big screen, I think he might meanionto DVD but I don't know .. This movie have been a Fav in our house since 1998 , all my kids fave grown up watcjing tis tape I have hadto buy 3 .. I will never stop loving this movie, the story line of the father daughter and growing up is just right for kids of all ages , but your children will if the are old enogh see the clear picture of this great film. I would love to again see it on the big screen , I hope my friend is correct. I give tis movie 10 stars. but I love all disney movies. this one is a keeper

I love the music, story, and the characters in this movie, but this is definitely not as appropriate for my two-year old as I thought. Ursula steals people's souls and they turn into creepy little demon creatures. At the end, Ursula gains power over the sea and becomes this scary huge monster that talks like she is demon-possessed. I just don't understand why Disney thinks this is appropriate in a children's movie, and its not like the other Disney movies are any better! ...and we wonder why our kids are scared of monsters and have nightmares!

In my opinion, this is the best movie ever created by Disney. Even before my dayghter, my wife and I watched this DVD several times. The story brings laugh, and tears... Don't waste your money on the version II of this film, they didn't kept the quality, but this one you MUST TO HAVE, even if you do not have kids. Of course, if you have a DVD player, it's a better option buying the DVD version.
