Movie synopsis
I LOVE LUCY debuted on CBS in 1951 and quickly set a new standard for situation comedy with its well-crafted plotlines, live tapings, multiple camera angles, and one of the finest ensemble casts in television history. Centered around the domestic life of zany redhead Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball) and her Cuban-born husband Ricky (Lucy's real-life spouse Desi Arnaz), the series also broke cultural ground by featuring an interracial marriage and a female lead that was less than the perfect housewife. Indeed, it was Lucy's neverending quest to muscle in on her husband's show business career--often with the help of meddlesome next-door neighbors Fred (William Frawley) and Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance)--that provided the show its main comedic thrust and continues to lend it a timelessly classic appeal. This collection presents the "lost" pilot plus all 35 original episodes from the groundbreaking first season, including "Lucy Does a TV Commercial," "The Freezer," "The Ballet," "The Fur Coat," and many more.

) "I Love Lucy" is a classic comedy that just about anybody can relate to. I've enjoyed it ever since I was a child. It's just so funny. Lucy is always getting into trouble because she doesn't always tell the truth. She never learns. But she does have a loving & forgiving husband who sometimes sets her up for trouble. They make quite a pair- a redhead and a hot-tempered Cuban. (Of course Lucy's hair is red from her Henna Rinse.) This first season has quite a few of the classic episodes that are broadcast on TV quite frequently. Such as: "The Freezer," "Lucy Does A TV Commercial", & "The Kleptomaniac," etc.... One of my favorites is, "The Publicity Agent", where Lucy dresses up & poses as the "Maharincess of Franistan" hoping to show her talented husband and his agent that he is well-liked, even by royalty! All episodes are in black & white and there are a few bonus features. Clean family comedy.

) I Love Lucy is the classic comedy show. I bought all the seasons. I don't have full cable or satellite and it isn't on too often at a time when I can watch it. (no DVR either) I have loved Lucy since I was little. It is clean and wholesome entertainment that doesn't depend on crude jokes, profanity or partial nudity. Most importantly it is really funny. Even though Lucille Ball is the star the show features the other members of the cast almost equally. No one person is always responsible for the mishaps. This set includes the famous "Lucy Does a TV Commercial" episode with the classic Vitameatavagamin scene.
My kids were watching the same shows over and over until I finally said "No we are watching something else." I turned on I Love Lucy and they loved it. Now my 6 year old granddaughter loves it and so does my neighbor who is a great grandmother. Lucy is great fun for all ages.

I love Lucy

) What I most like about this DVD is the radio shows that are part of the extras. You get to hear what the show was like before Desi. I found out that a lot of the shows in the first season were taken from Lucy's radio show my Favorite Husband. You also get to see the lost pliot for the show, which was re-done as an episode. The one thing I hate though is that at the beginning of each disk you have to listen to the I Love Lucy theme song, meaning Desi signing the words, which I didn't know it had I now just leave the room now. There a lots of tid bits of information like what happened to some of the actors on the shows and who were Lucy's favorites. All in all it is a great CD and I look at it quite often @ least twice per week..because I Love Lucy. I can't wait to own the 2nd season.
I love Lucy 1st season

I bought this season for my mother for Christmas. I Love Lucy was one of her favorite shows. It contains over 20 episodes on 4 discs. It's a must for any fans of Lucy. It even shows the lost pilot episode that wasn't shown until the early 90's. It has the infamous Vitametavegeman (sp) episode. I had absolutely no problem with the DVD set, and was a welcomed surprise for mom.

) Lucille Ball is one of the best comic geniuses of all time! This boxed set is so good, especially since it had so many extras! The only con I have is that they emphasize that you get to see the "lost pilot" which is pretty cool, but it was redone as an episode later, so it isn't really that "new." If you're into black and white, squeaky clean, can't stop laughing entertainment, then this is the DVD set for you. 5+ stars.
