Both movies starred John Travolta as agents of God, and both soundtracks feature a mix of old and new "adult alternative" artists.John Hiatt, covered by Jewel on PHENOMENON, is represented once again, this time by Don Henley covering "Through Your Hands." Hiatt's friend Bonnie Raitt checks in with a cover of Randy Newman's "Feels Like Home," and Newman himself duets with Valerie Carter on "Heaven Is My Home." Instead of the Iguanas to represent the Southern youth movement, MICHAEL offers the Mavericks and Kenny Wayne Shepherd duetting with bluesman James Cotton on the Rolling Stones' "The Spider And The Fly." Any movie about spiritual matters wouldn't be complete without Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit In The Sky," and MICHAEL comes through there, too.

There is a variety of music that really cuts to the soul on this cd. It is a
fun cd. I now want to buy the movie or rent the movie; I want to watch it again
because of the music!

I got to go to Gruene Hall in Gruene,Texas, to watch the filming of part of this
movie. Gruene Hall became 'Joe's.' I loved the scene by the jukebox in Gruene
Hall. However, I have no recollection of a jukebox EVER being at Gruene Hall.

The music is an array of good sounds by great artists.
Lucky me! I now have the music to listen to ...over and over and over.
Thanks. Posey of San Marcos, Texas

Just wish it had some of the original music from the soundtrack but the other songs are great. Love Randy Newman.

Like watching the movie scene by scene - fun & engaging

"Michael" is a sweet movie with a great, eclectic cast and the soundtrack is a strong reflection of that. With singers such as Bonnie Raitt and Van Morrison, the mellow, soulful tunes included in this album will inspire you to just let the cd play from beginning to end over and over on your stereo. Personally, I enjoy Andie MacDowell's Pie song the most - she has a very soothing, country voice.
