Product Description
The Microsoft Xbox 360 Slim with Kinect, is also known as the Xbox 360 S. The , ultra-light slim and compact design of this video game system, as well as its glossy black finish makes the Xbox 360 game console extremely attractive.

With a 250 GB hard drive and a 4 GB onboard internal memory, the Microsoft Xbox 360 Slim with Kinect has ample space store you data. The Xbox 360 game console is capable of playing thousands of Xbox 360 games as well as those specially designed to interact with the Kinect sensor device. It can also play movies in DVD-ROM format if they are compatible with the inherent NTSC region code. The Xbox 360 game console is controlled with a remote that has joystick toggle buttons. These remotes come in two varieties: wired or wireless. Up to four wired remotes can be plugged into the back of the console via the USB ports so that a group of friends can play games. Four wireless remotes reduce the hassle of cords. Wired controllers are limited to the length of the cord and are excellent for the casual player, but the wireless controllers can be operated from up to thirty feet away from the console itself. Xbox 360 video game enthusiasts can get up to 30 hours of play out of two AA batteries.

The Xbox 360 Slim comes straight out of the box with built-in Wi-Fi capabilities. In situations where there are no wireless connections available, the Xbox 360 Slim console can be connected via an Ethernet RJ 45. Once connected to the Internet, the Xbox 360 Slim game console can synched with the Xbox Live subscriber server. This allows the players to download games directly to the hard drive. With Xbox Live, subscribers can receive game updates, connect with friend, watch movies and TV shows, and connect to popular social networking sites. Xbox 360 Slim owners are able to watch television shows and movies via both Hulu and Netflix subscriber services. They can also connect to Facebook and share photos via Flickr.

This video game system includes not only the game console, but also the Kinect sensor, which is a peripheral piece of equipment that is plugged directly into the console via USB. The Kinect sensor uses a type of technology that has the ability to integrate a player’s body movements directly into the game, making the player’s body the actual controller as opposed to the handheld wired or wireless controller. The optical sensor on the front of the Kinect device tracks body movements when interacting with compatible games and applications. In order to select menu items and make one’s character move around, the player must complete physical actions, such as running, jumping, punching, kicking, and waving one’s hands around in order to navigate around the screen. There are several dozen games on the market that are compatible with the Xbox 360 Slim with Kinect, and more are added on a constant basis.

These Kinect-compatible games place players directly in the center of the action, allowing them to attempt activities, such as being able to surf waves, dive under the sea, climb mountains, play sports like tennis and golf, and dance and perform exercises that range from calming, flexibility-encouraging yoga to intense cardio, aerobics, and core strength training. There is even a game series that teaches dance enthusiasts popular dance moves from today and well as decades past. The games that work with the Xbox Kinect sensor are clearly marked on the product packaging with words saying it is interactive, and it will also be marked with the word Kinect. / The Xbox 360 Slim with Kinect is an engaging video system that encourages the use of gaming enthusiasts’ minds as well as bodies, as game levels are approached, challenged, and defeated.
This gaming console is suitable for players of all ages and skill abilities, and with the wide array of compatible games available for sale, there is no shortage of challenges to conquer.

The new Xbox Slim with 250 Gig HDD

Created: 14/10/10
Comes with matching wireless controller and wired headset. The system itself is much quieter than the old Xbox, both running and loading disks, has built-in wireless, and a Kinect port for the sensor (not included). The wireless worked for me without any problem, with good signal strength and fairly fast download, even on videos. The finish is shiny black, and the buttons are touch sensitive, with a tone when pressed, which is kind of neat. I find the finish easily smudged and scratched, and mine has a fair amount of scratches already, and I am a careful adult owner. Also, many of the old Xbox memory peripherals do not work with this unit. The memory cards and hard drives do not carry over, and you will need a special cable to transfer the data from an old 360 HDD to the new unit (not included). There is no way to transfer from the memory card to the new unit, so get the new dashboard update and move your data to a formatted zip drive if you have the old memory cards as your save device. Overall a good system, I hope they someday release one with a 'real world' finish that can handle normal handling, I don't consider the memory card/HDD issue to be a big deal, I just pointed it out so you are not surprised and having to wait on another cable to get your stuff into the new system, like I am.

Fun 2 Play Not so Good Price

Created: 23/02/11
I have played the kinect @ a relatives house and been searching for 1 myself but I havent seen any that are worth buying even like this one, reserve not met??? A lot of people say it looks like a good price and keep bidding higher and higher which I believe you need to learn to bid and learn how much they really cost brand new. $299.99 for the 4gb and $399.99 for the 250gb @ bestbuy and yes it is the bundle costs. Why buy a used or new 1 for the same price plus shipping when you can go 2 bestbuy and receive it there without haveing 2 wait. I might as well buy it @ bestbuy and letting you know 2 so you wont waist money and time. Also if your xbox brakes with the red ring and you dont tamper with it you can call 1-800-4myxbox, let them know your xbox broke, and they will give you an email and a confirmation # so you can send it to them and give you a new 1 but dont send in your hard drive you wont get that back. Hope this information helps.

360 Slim: Nice but some set backs

Created: 26/03/11
Been using 360 since it first came out. I was skeptical with the new slim. The only reason I decided to step up with slim is because my third xbox had red ringed. This one supposedly does not red ring and I want to invest in an xbox I know will not red ring!

This version is nice but has some set backs. There are two versions: a matte 4 GB hard drive and a shiny 250 GB hard drive, both black in color.

Both versions come with internal memory of 4GB, so if you buy the shiny you are just getting a shiny xbox with the extra 250 GB of space in the version of a removable hard drive. I personally don't like the shiny; it gets greasy and dirty very easily.

If you want to save money or want the matte version but with a bigger hard drive space, buy a used matte slim and a new 250 GB hard drive. This will save you lots of $$$ bc honestly Microsoft overprices many things concerning xbox. I spent roughly $170 doing this and it works perfectly! :) Ebay has some sellers that sell brand new 250 GB hard drives for a reasonable price.

PROS
-silent
-slim/tinier
-if color is a factor, it's dark in color
-if feel is a factor, there are two versions: a matte and a shiny
-sleek looking
-still the same interface and xbox LIVE
-extra USB ports
-internal wifi with ethernet option

CONS
-internal hard drive compartment: you have to use force to pull out the hard drive if you ever decide to, and they made the hard drive depend on a small pull out tab that is easily destructible. The hard drive's tab is very cheaply made and Microsoft needs to work on a better way to remove the hard drive.

-disk eject button and power button are VERY sensitive. Be careful when hovering around these buttons, the slightest brush of your shirt will trigger these buttons

-does not come with HDMI cable/hookups, but if you have it on your old 360 it IS compatible with the new slim. This is what I use. Unless the color bothers you (black xbox with grey HDMI) then it's perfect

Other than that, pretty good step up form the original 360, but needs some work. I would recommend, but I think it's overpriced, so do some research depending if you want new or used. There are great deals out there. Also depends if you want Kinect, but I wasn't interested so did not consider Kinect in this review or during my new xbox slim search.

I hope his helps those considering trying slim.

I bought this for my wife who uses an exercise program. I searched for games that I would like to play but have yet to find any. It is a full featured console and it is easy to use or figure out how to use. I do not like the shape as it makes it difficult to add into a storage console unit, home entertainment center etc. But default it video records you which took us by surprise. The tray open button needs to be redesigned and moved to a different location. It is too easy to touch and it is very sensitive. It is quite when runnning and does not appear to get too hot. Overall I believe that the next generation or two might make it unbeatable if Microsoft would only listen to the feedback.

I have owned numerous xbox 360's since they came out. I Started with the original 20 gig, and after having some issues with some accessories with it (the intercooler i bought literally melted into the back of my 360) so i upgraded to the Elite. I loved the console, and never once had an issue with it. but there were always some negative things about it, including the noise, the size of the power brick, and how hot the games would get at times while playing. I only bought this at midnight but I can say its great so far, and you save 50 bucks by getting this bundle.

What i love so far:

- love the new look. my elite was black, but the console was bulky. the new one has a sleek design and is more compact.

- The touch sensitive buttons are cool, you don't even have to press.

- The power brick is much smaller, and leaves way more room.

- The xbox is much more quiet

- 3 USB hookups is great

- 250 gig hard drive is all i will ever need.

- The kinect is just amazing. works extremely well, recognized my every movement and voice command. the is definitely next gen gaming. Its just awesome. already used video chat, and the camera actually follows you around, whether you go up or down or anywhere. i cannot wait to use it more
