Movie synopsis
Tom Cruise stars as Ethan Hunt, leader of a crack squad of intelligence operatives, in this labyrinthine action-thriller based on the hit 1960s-'70s television series. When a dangerous mission in Prague goes inexplicably wrong, Hunt finds himself out in the cold. A mole has infiltrated the CIA, and suspicions are that it's Hunt. His only chance: Find out who the real mole is and turn the tables. The plan takes him on an incredibly suspenseful infiltration of CIA security, leading to a spectacular chunnel climax that would make Hitchcock proud. Thanks to crisp, inventive direction from Brian De Palma and Danny Elfman's dynamite electronica score (including a catchy update of the original Lalo Schifrin theme), this mission is great fun. The talented roster of stars backing Cruise includes Ving Rhames, Vanessa Redgrave, John Voight, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Jean Reno. A witty script by Robert Towne (CHINATOWN, SHAMPOO) and David Koepp keeps the ball rolling in unexpected directions, with the paranoia always set to high. A box-office record-setter during its original release, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE led to a well-deserved sequel, also with Cruise and Rhames.

) Well, first off, I decided to buy "Mission Impossible" on DVD, because I came across a great copy on "MI2" on DVD at a pawn shop, and I really like to have both the original movie, plus any sequels, in my collection. So, naturally, I fired up the computer and headed to eBay. After a little searching, I came across a copy that had a reasonable bid. I bid on it, and needless to say I won the auction. The movie arrived and as usual with Tom Cruise in it, it was very good. Full of action and a great story line, this one is sure to be a hit with Tom Cruise and action movie fans alike!

If this was a stand-alone movie and not "Mission: Impossible" I probably would have enjoyed it. BUT...to take the entire premise of the Mission Impossible series and totally ruin here makes me upset.
I grew up watching Mission and totally enjoyed the intrigue and mystery of each plot twisting episode. Each member of the team was a crucial part of the complete Mission.
In the movie, some of the team members look inept and most of the team is wiped out in the beginning. The worst part of the whole film, is tht they take Jim Phelps (Jon Voight..sorry plot revealed here) and make him the bad guy. How can you make the leader of the team the bad guy. Please come up with a more interesting plot. This totally ruins the entire TV series.
The sequels aren't much better.

great movie, great title

) I love action movies and Tom Cruise. This is the only one I didn't have to complete my set. It keeps you on your toes in suspense and I like all the stunts dramatic scenes. All of his movies are great and this one is one of the best. If you like to get your adrenaline flowing, watch this movie!

Probably my favorite Tom Cruise Movie. This time being cast as the young cocky guy actually works well for him in this role and this movie will keep you guessing to the end.
Like all good spy thrillers trust no-one and everyones a suspect. Watch your back and maybe youll live.

Nice action movie!

If you like action movies, Mission: Impossible is for you. Lots of action and guess work. Must have if you like Tom Cruise.
