The Muppet Christmas Carol (VHS, 1993)

Who doesn't love the Muppets?! The whole story line narrated by Charles Dickens is a wonderfully creative point of view. The selection of Muppet characters to play the roles is perfect. And of course Michael Caine plays a perfect Scrooge. The music is great and doesn't detract from the story, but truly propels it along and adds to it. If you've seen this version, you know that one of the most moving songs in the show is a duet "When Love Is Gone". It is absolutely beautiful and my favorite in the whole show. For whatever reason, when they released the 25th Anniversary Edition on DVD, the ONLY edit they made was to DELETE THIS ONE SONG. Even though DVDs are great for the back scenes, extra interviews, clips and funny out-takes, I had to have the original! I wish they would release THIS version on DVD. I don't know how long this VHS tape will last (sigh.)

I absolutely love this adorable movie! This is without a doubt one of the best(not to mention the funniest)versions of the classic Christmas tale that Ive ever seen. The Muppets are hilarious, and the human actors do a wonderful job. Michael Caine is phenomenal as Ebeneezer Scrooge, and with the exception of one or two minor alterations the movie stays true to the story. This movie is wonderful for both adults and children. I definitely recommend buying this movie. Its fun for the whole family.

I have always loved Charles Dickens's story "A Christmas Carol" and have seen various movie and TV adaptations over the years. This light-hearted take on the famous classic by the irrepressible Muppets is a little different look at the story...and a great way to spend an hour and a half on a Christmas Eve. Very entertaining indeed!
As usual, the Muppeteers prove themselves thoroughly professional at their craft, with many of the characters from "The Muppet Show" filling out the cast. Kermit the Frog is the lowly clerk Bob Cratchit; Miss Piggy is, of course, Mrs. Cratchit. Fozzie Bear appears as "Fozziwig," and there are "cameos" by Rowlf the Dog, Sam the Eagle, The Swedish Chef, and The Old Hecklers, among others. Distinguished actor Michael Caine is cast as Ebenezer Scrooge and gives a fine performance as the stingy curmudgeon who is transformed by visits from the spirits on Christmas Eve.
All in all, if you like "A Christmas Carol" you will love Michael Caine and the late Jim Henson's Muppets as they perform this magical tale. 5*****

Every year this is a MUST SEE Christmas favorite at our house. Our entire family loves this rendition of a Christmas Carol. The original music adds to create the many different moods of the movie. Gonzo and Rizzo are hillarious as the narrators of the story. Throughout the show, Muppets and real actors/actresses combine to bring this tale to life. It is especially enjoyable to see and hear Scrooge's transformation into his new self at the end of the story as he and his new friends sing "With a Thankful Heart".

love the muppets. Kermit and Miss Piggy bring out the true meaning of Christmas in a muppet kinda way. Mickey is my favorite as Ebeneezer. Have loved this movie since birth. A great find. I also love the fact that it is in vhs
