Movie synopsis
"The Music Man" is a musical DVD offering, based on experiences in the life of Meredith Wilson. This DVD version has a run time of 151 minutes and stars Robert Preston, Shirley Jones, Buddy Hackett, Hermione Gingold, and Paul Ford. The inspiration for this musical comes from Wilson's home town, Mason City, Iowa. The character of Marian was inspired by Marian Seeley, a female that Meredith Wilson met during World War II. The idea for this story comes from Meredith Wilson's own true-life trials and tribulations. His song "Ya Got Trouble" is featured in the production. "The Music Man" is set in a time around 1912. Life was difficult during the war. Wilson faced many difficulties, but this depiction of his life story shows how he overcame the obstacles he faced. Several edits and character changes took place before the production was able to be successfully presented on Broadway. "The Music Man" became successful with the right group of actors and actresses, and now the DVD version offers the opportunity for audiences to enjoy it at home.

The dvd was in perfect condition as delivered.
I remember this movie from my long ago youth. And, unlike some, it stands up well to the passage of decades. It is fun, light and less silly than many modern movies.
The staging and effects aren't up to the CGI magic of today but it still works well.
