This product is excellent. I just finished shotting a wedding and the pictures truned out great. It is sharp and quick focused. The draw backs are that it is completely plastic including the mount and it is not the newer version which has VR (Vibration Reduction, highly reccomended). You must be careful with it because of the plastic mount and cannot pick up the camera with it. It is a DX lens and will not work on film or FX format cammeras. A used in excellent condition lens should run from $75-90. For the Picture quality it is a good deal.

I bought used Nikkor 55-200G ED AF-S DX VR after checking some information on internet, I was very surprised it work perfectly with my Nikon D5000 and produced excellent pictures, it work quick, smooth, accurate with the camera. Night landscape, the focus may be litthe slow but what else asking more for a merely $120.00 used lens.
I work with different cameras, more than 40 years with nikon, because of its natural color and quick response. It is my experiences Nikon D5000 with 18-55 and 55-200 lenses can give you very satisfy pictures for less money

Great Lens

I love the lens I purchased, easy to work! I had just purchased a Nikon SLR camera and the lens that came with it was not what I had expected. I was looking for a lens that I could zoom easier to take action shots of my daughters playing soccer and running track. I was told by a friend that the 55-200 mm was the one to get. I did my research and found the perfect lens on Ebay. I paid a great price and it has been a great addition to my camera!

Great Lens for the Money
Created: 29/03/11
I owned this 55-200vr lens for about 9 months, for use with my Nikon D60, before my needs “forced” me to get a 70-300vr. It is a very good quality lens for when more zoom power is needed than the standard 18-55vr will deliver, especially for landscapes, sports or the like. I found that the focus was quick and smooth and easy to use, as described in Nikon’s written material and that the image quality was very good - nice crisp and clear shots. I definitely appreciated the VR feature especially when out near the 200 range, though most times at max I would use a tripod. The lens is very intuitive and easy to use. As with probably most lenses today the ability to use either auto or manual focus is a plus. Though fairly light weight, I did not detect anything that made it flimsy or seem less than standard Nikon quality. I would recommend this lens to anyone who only has an 18-55 now and wants more zoom for not that much money.

This Nikon camera may be the bottom of the Nikon SLR cameras, but it is just as nice as the more exspensive ones!! The only thing you will miss out on is video and a few small functions that aren't really necessary. The picture quality ia amazing, and it is very easy to carry along with on trips.
