Movie synopsis
Released in February of 2010, Nurse Jackie: Season 1 is a three-disc set of this Showtime original drama series. Edie Falco of The Sopranos fame stars as Nurse Jackie who is a full-time nurse in a busy hospital in New York City. She is overworked and underpaid with two daughters, the demands of running a household, and a husband who owns and manages a local bar and pulls long hours of his own. Behind the scenes of a traditional day at work, Nurse Jackie: Season 1 shows how Jackie bends the rules of medicine to help patients, the hospital's doctors, and herself as she deals with heavy subjects such as assisted suicide and substance addiction and abuse. This three-disc set contains 12 episodes with 333 minutes of programming and the special features of this drama contain behind the scenes footage, a narrative of Edie Falco's life, and the story of unsung heroes in the field of nursing. Nurse Jackie: Season 1 is filmed in Dolby surround sound with an aspect ratio of 2.35:1.

Edie Falco perfectly plays the "take no b.s." nurse Jackie who does what she wants, when she wants and does it with the patients best interest in mind. While at the same time battling her prescription drug addiction a secret from everyone and her home life a secret from her co-workers. Amazing combination of drama and comedy, with a great story line throughout and within each episode.

) Ms. Falco aka Nurse Jackie is beyond any expression of amazement. This series is filled with the greatest ensemble of characters in TV Medical history. Ethos and Pathos reign supreme. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll laugh some more. Edgy, human with thoughtful peeks into the life and times of Nurse Jackie and the medical establishment with a few new twist to tease one into joyous participation.

I purchased Nurse Jackie season one because I really enjoyed watching the showtime series that came on and I want to keep up with this series beause I love the characters.

One of the best series to come out on pay t.v. in years, Nurse Jackie incorporates everything you want in a show. Edie Falco plays a dedicated nurse who shows great empathy to her patients and family. Her one weakness, pills, and she'll do what she has to to get them including sleeping with the hospital pharmacist. Then there is the young dr. who has a crush on Jackie. This is fun and entertaining with medical stores thrown in for good measure. Be sure to watch them from Season 1, then 2, and so on. You'll Enjoy!!!

) Without giving too much away, this is a quirky, fast moving story about a nurse who is overworked and must relay on drugs to keep up with everything. I believe she has seen too much suffering and had to work too many long hours in order to fulfill everyone else's dreams. She means well, and has a basic code of honor, but circumstances work against her at every turn. I liked it so much I have season 2 on the way.
You could almost laugh (at the antics) if you weren't crying at the human drama. Well written and well played,
