Polk Audio db651 2-Way 6.5" Car Speaker

I absolutely love these 6 1/2" co-axle speakers by Polk Audio. Of course,as being Polk Audio, Im not supprised in the least. They are just about as high end as you can get without going into the professional and competition series products. The mids are saturated with a studio sound and the highs are crisp and sharp without being harsh and distorded like some of the cheaper tweeters.
Overall, I cant think of a bettter brand and sound quality for the price.
I am one happy customer and am more than satisified with the sound quality to say the least. All around, these are a GREAT pair of speakers for the money and would highly reccomend them to anyone looking for great sound quality at an affordable price.

Polk audio has always been known to design speakers with great sound quality. I was actually about to purchase a pair of these at Best Buy, was not sure sure if $100 for the pair would justify. The price that I paid for this was just right. I would definitely buy another pair of these speakers for my other car. So far, all four of my speakers, 6X9 and 6.5 speakers are made by polk audio. They never fail to satisfy their customers!

Confession time: this is actually my second pair of DB651s. They bare a striking resemblance to the DB 651Ss (shallow-mounted speakers). The first pair I bought were from a shady guy on ebay. (He listed them as new when they had clearly been used before). While the sound from those wasn't terrible, they tended to stridently 'attempt" the high end of the spectrum.
A brand new pair carries a stark contrast from that first impression and truly sound much like the polk db691s which I have also owned. Moreover, the difference in sound between the 651 series and the 651S is surprisingly great: the 651s present a fuller sound stage from a coaxial perspective (and the difference is merely 5 RMS!)
Bottom line: Other reviewers are saying it too! Polk speakers are an excellent factory replacement especially paired with a reliable ebay seller for a better price point! I strongly recommend amplifying them for the full effect!

These are MARINE rated, so they will last longer.

Even on the head unit only, they sound better than stock.

They add a bit of treble to the mix.

They don't sound very good on a head unit, but they sound better than stock speakers, so when you turn them up load, it doesn't sound like total garbage thanks to the built in tweeter with it's built in high pass filter (HPF)

If you put these on an amp (6-60w RMS @ 4 ohms per speaker) they will sound 10 times as good, and about 2-4 times as loud.

You can have anywhere from 6-60 watts, so don't worry about it damaging the speakers if you just run these lower than the rated watts.

Also, you CAN run these on a higher amp, just be sure to turn the gain down - or just be aware of the volume and notice when they sound BAD when you turn them up too high.

If you have stock speakers, get these. $50 on ebay - can't beat it.

This was for my boat and Polk is one of the only manufactures where the speakers are Marine Rated. I love the speakers and will be buying another pair or two!! good base for a 6 1/2 speaker.

I recommend these speakers.
