THE movie event of the 90s!
Created: 12/09/08
Let's face it; Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece "Pulp Fiction" still remains a major cornerstone in the world of independent filmmaking, and a landmark in recent, modern cinema. Set during a 3-day time period in Los Angeles, the many varied stories, plotlines and characters unfold before you in a way that no other movie ever has before. Tarantino has assembled a multi-talented cast that features John Travolta as Vincent Vega and Samuel L. Jackson as Jules Winfield, 2 hitmen working for Marcellus Wallace, played by Ving Rhames. Also in the cast are Tim Roth and Amanda Plummer as would-be robbers, attempting to hold up a diner; Eric Stoltz as a drug dealer and Rosanna Arquette as his wife; Maria DeMediros as Fabienne; Christopher Walken appearing in a flashback sequence as a military man named Capt. Coones; and Bruce Willis in perhaps his best screen performance as Butch, a two-bit prizefighter. There has never been dialogue quite like what is heard in this movie. The soundtrack also is first rate, featuring songs by such artists as Dick Dale, Kool & The Gang, Al Green, Ricky Nelson, Dusty Springfield, Chuck Berry, The Statler Brothers, Brothers Johnson and The Markettes. With this much on-screen talent along with this much high quality music used for the background, it is easy to see why "Pulp Fiction" was Oscar-nominated for Best Picture, and won the award for its original screenplay. The film also recieved the prestigious Palm D'ore at the Cannes Film Festival, and the MTV Movie Award for Best Movie. This is gutsy moviemaking from a cinematic maverick.

One of the best movies of all time!
Created: 26/07/06
One of my favorite movies of all time. Here are my favorite movies... if you like the others but haven't seen this one.... drop what you are doing and get it NOW!
1. The Evil Dead 2. My all-time favorite movie. I've seen this movie about 20 times, in fact my family usually watches it every Halloween. It's a classic, what can I say? It's funny and scary, and Bruce Campbell is astounding. Army of Darkness is the sequel, and it's almost as good. Dead by Dawn, Dead by Dawn!
2. Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This is a tough list, since I'm mixing genres. But, I don't have any doubt that this is hands-down the funniest movie ever made. Every time I watch this I'm rolling on the floor. If you don't think this movie is funny, you should exit this site now!
3. Natural Born Killers. Well, I can say without a doubt, that Quentin Tarentino is my favorite writer/director. But, it was still a brainstorm to let Oliver Stone direct this one. And the casting... who would have seen Woody Harrelson from Cheers as the perfect psychopathic killer? This version on DVD, in particular, is awesome for the extra footage. Entire characters, including Ashley Judd and Dennis Leary were cut out - the extra scenes add a whole extra hour to the movie! Sick movie, but I never get tired of it.
4. Pulp Fiction. Quentin Tarentino will have the most movies in my top 100 as writer and director, and many will say that this is his best movie (although I personally like NBK better). Every actor he casts in a movie is catapulted to fame, and/or their careers are revived. After seeing this movie, it's no wonder that John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman are "A"-list. Then you add in Bruce Willis, Ving Rhames, Christopher Walken.... sheesh, how could this not be in my top 5?
5. Total Recall. Arnold Schwarzenegger is not the greatest actor, but he did an incredible job picking movies. He has a lot of great movies; you are going to see a few more in my top 100. But there is no doubt in my mind that this is, and will remain, his best movie. The collectors edition is really nice, in a tin can that looks like Mars!
6. The Usual Suspects. This movie is amazing, the first time I saw it... right when it ended I watched it again. It was just as good the second time. Kevin Spacey and Gabriel Byrne are two of my favorite actors, but actually this entire cast is fantastic. I guess this would be considered a crime movie, and yes - I liked it better than Goodfellas, Scarface and The Godfather!
7. Army of Darkness. The second movie from Bruce Campbell in my top 10, an amazing follow-up to Evil Dead II.
8. True Romance. The third movie by Quentin Tarentino in my top 10, and it's a solid entry. Not his most well known movie, but an all time classic in my book. With stars like Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper and Brad Pitt I guess I should have expected as much.
9. The Terminator. I think a lot of people's favorite movies are influenced by how their life was going when they first saw the movie that they are reviewing. As I mentioned above, I don't count Arnold S. as one of the finest actors of all time, but this is his second movie in my top 10. I was at a good place in my life when this came out, and it blew me away. I'm sure glad my name isn't Sarah Connor.
10. Star Wars Trilogy. Most of my friends think this is my favorite movie of all time, and it's #10!

The whole idea that three intersecting Arcs of story line, surrounded by many other colorful characters and their path in this movie were groundbreaking in 1994, when Quentin Tarantino wrote this Masterpiece.it delivers a great and unforgettable cast, including a pair of low rent hit men (John Travolta and Samuel L Jackson) their boss's beautiful wife (Uma Thurman)and Prizefighter(Bruce Willis)bringing an original fast moving, and exhilarating motion picture adventure that both thrill and tantalize.

Pulp Fiction on DVD

ok , before i write my little review. My wife is behind me at the computer and wants me to mention the dancing scene when john travolta takes the trophy at Jack Rabbit Slim's. Great movie, a typical quentin tarantino movie . John Travolta and Samuel Jackson are clean cut hit men in this drug abused action packed comedy flick.....ok maybe drama. JT looks so cool with his long hair and bruce willis as a scape goat boxer, they collide in this undergound world of bible verses, murder and big kahuna burgers. In the end, all worlds collide and two people lives are spared for the sake of 1 mans coversion from hit man to his brothers keeper. Hope that helps, if that sounds weird its because the movie is weird!
