I Love My Rainbow!
After seeing a Rainbow Vacuum demonstration, I couldn't wait to buy one from Ebay! I got the latest model, E2 Series for a great price and couldn't be happier. It has great attachments, cleans like no vacuum I have ever owned and gives me instant gratification when I empty the canister and see all the dirt that's leaving my house! It cleans many surfaces with the floor tool, duster tool, crevice tool, and upholstery tool. An added bonus is the "quiet mode switch" for purifying the air in my home 24/7 with 100% Hepa filtration. Rainbow fragrances added to the water basin makes my whole house smell fresh and clean.

The rainbow vacuum ROCKS!
Hi! Thanks for reading my review.
I decided to buy a Rainbow vacuum because a friend had bought one from a distributor, loved it, and asked of the distributor could show us. I reluctantly agreed because I knew they were VERY expensive and money is a little tight with our growing family. After the demonstration, I HAD to have one so I checked here on eBay and found a few that looked wonderful! I lost a few bids that went high and finally one an auction from a new seller who had 0 feedback...risky, I know...but he turned out to be great...very helpful and friendly!
I happen to think that I am a great house cleaner...I keep a VERY clean house...or so I thought. Everything changed when the UPS guy brought the vacuum to my door and I unpacked the vacuum (in awesome shape) and began using it immediately...I poured BUCKETS of mud down the toilet after doing just 3 rooms...I changed the canister water twice per room and each time it's just like muddy, disgusting water! VERY gross but at least I now know my house it as clean as I used to think it was!
I love that you can put scented oils in the water canister and it makes my house smell wonderful while I vacuum. I love that I can use the dust brush attachment and my wood floors practically sparkle. I love that my kids can use this vacuum and they love it (ages 6 & 2). They actually fight over who gets to vacuum! I love the design of the vacuum. You can even use it as a wet vac (I haven't yet because I didn't have the opportunity). You can run the machine on low and it purifies the air. I really do love everything about it...especially the price I got it for. I've been telling everyone about my new vacuum and they are shocked that I spent so much on a vacuum until I tell them I got a GREAT deal...on eBay.
I have to say my only complaint is all of the hoses and attachments that come with the vacuum that you have to store. But, really, they are worth storing because if you REALLY want a clean house, the attachments are easy to use and change. There is an attachment for every type of flooring, upholstery, etc.
This is not an exaggeration...I love my Rainbow vacuum like crazy! I am so glad I bought it on eBay.

Rainbow eseries vacuum
A Rainbow is a little more effort to set up and use compared to an upright vacuum, however it cleans without foul odors, bacteria, or power-loss problems. Because the filtration is water, you can trap the tiny particles that escape dry filtration vacuums, including air-borne germs. My daughter has asthma and it really helps to have this machine. It is not usually healthy to breathe the exhaust from conventional dry-filtration type vacuum cleaners; besides most of them lose maximum airflow from the bag alone, let alone the dust plugging the pores of the bags or filters. With water you do not have these problems. PLUS, one huge advantage is being able to dump it out and see that your machine is getting the floor and air more clean with each use. (The water was real "muddy" at first when we'd been using the Kirby we had.) We absolutely love our Rainbow and enjoy its many uses. We can pick up spills fast and easy. It works extremely well on clogged drains, (however this is not recommended by the manufacturer due to the flammability of sewer gas I suppose, BUT it works super.!) It is not required to leave the HEPA filter in place, but if you do, dont forget to replace it every 18 months. Stay away from drywall dust or ashes. They will not absorb in water. The filtration efficiency is super on regular old house dust however; (which is what you use a vacuum for anyway). If you buy a Rainbow, clean the separator cone regularly, and never store it over the water-basin,and it will usually last for 20 or 30 years. I have owned mine since Jan 1998, and I liked them so well I sold them part-time. I also have serviced them for 9 years. If you get your machine cleaned every 4 years or so, it keeps it at its maximum efficiency. About the only parts that seem to wear are the belt and bristles in the power nozzle. Most people get about 8 to 10 years out of the hose, some much longer. They will usually take a set of motor brushes and a new water pan gasket at 10 years old. If they are stgrored over the water basin, it can corrode the lower bearing and motor gasket flange as well. This is only a problem if the consumer is breaking the rules. It is very common to see 20 and 30 year old Rainbow vacs selling on ebay for well over $200. I don't think you can find another brand with such high resale value and customer loyalty. It says alot about the machine. The SE model seems to outlast the later e series in maintenance issues but probably most due to negligence with the HEPA filter replacement. We threw ours away. You don't need it if you are not vacuuming non-wettable dirt; such as ash or drywall. GOOD LUCK, I hope this helps. Jason

has to be the best house-cleaning system around
I was doing some research to find a new vacuum cleaner on Target.com. We have a busy household with lots of animals, and no matter how often I clean, my house always seems dirty. One customer had left a review of a small water-filtering vacuum cleaner, in which she said "Wish I could afford a Rainbow, but this is a good good substitute." I immediately wondered what "a rainbow" was, and went on that site. Once I saw these incredible machines, I knew I wanted one. But their whopping price tag, at over $2,000, was an obstacle. I immediately thought of ebay, knowing I would see various models, be able to compare features, get a good idea of the market for these and their prices, and eventually come to understand all the subtle differences -- and this is so important! -- that would help me find the right model at a price I was willing to pay. Within a month, I had bid on several models and was successful at winning a gently used Rainbow, plus its companion carpet cleaner, for about $800.
The machine I got, the E-Series, is a few years old. It's quiet, marvelously engineered, and easy to use. To make a stupid car metaphor, I feel like I'm driving a Bentley for the first time, after driving a 10-year-old Toyota Camry that's lost its power steering. There's just no comparison to other vacuum cleaners. You can buy a new $150 vacuum cleaner every 3 to 5 years, or you can buy a Rainbow, which gives you far superior cleaning and a better experience doing the tough job of cleaning -- and not worry about spending another dime on a vacuum cleaner or stupid bags again for 50 years. (That's their guarantee!) In our horribly disposable society, I say invest in the best, and do it once. Ultimately, you save money, the environment, and your own sanity.

I love my vacuum!
Everything Rainbow comes out with is amazing. Their vacuums, if taken care of properly, can last a lifetime. My parents have been using the same Rainbow vacuum for twelve years, and it works just as perfectly as it did the day they bought it, and they bought it used!
The suction is powerful enough to handle any job you can think of, the power nozzle works wonders on carpet, the hard floor attachment is great for maneuvering in tight places on hard floor, and all of the other attachments are equally satisfying.
Many people think the water canister is a pain because you have to fill it and empty it every time you use the vacuum, but the people who complain about water canisters are the same people who are too lazy to get up and turn the TV on when they can't find the remote.
Overall, every Rainbow model gets a 5 star in my book!
