Roku 2 XD Digital HD Media Streamer

The best media investment in years! Roku offers access to subscription services as well as many free services. At present YOU-TUBE is not available. In my opinion,It is the easiest to set up and the most inexpensive streaming device available. HD picture quality is available on many titles and the sound is streamed directly through the home theater system. The free Pandora music channel sounds amazing! I purchased 2 for seperate TV's which allows for viewing different channels simultaneously...

Interesting internet streaming product. Large selection of channels, but not all free. The monthly on the pay for view is very low and you won't get locked in. If you are nostalgic it will have a special appeal to those of you that miss the 50s, 60s and 70s. There is also lots of "B" movies that are just plain fun. Would I recommend it as a replacement for cable or satellite, well not quite yet, but it is getting there. Enjoy

I was looking for this discontinued Roku XD model because the new model no longer offers an ethernet connection. This model works with both wi-fi and ethernet cable. I purchased two of this model for Christmas gifts brand new on Woot! for $50 each, but I needed another one and had to pay $73 for a used one on eBay. When it arrived, the remote control was missing. All's well because the seller gave me $25 back and I was able to find a brand new remote on eBay for $9.

The Roku allows you to select from a wide variety of paid and FREE programming, including Netflix, Hulu+, Amazon, etc. If you like movies, old movies, past seasons of TV shows, and much more, then you will love the Roku.

Up until my purchase of the Roku XD I had been using my PlayStation 3 for all my media needs but with the complete ease of setup and use of the Roku it has become my choice for access to Netflix and other enternet source media. Very easy to operate and set up is very simple. I have found that the device is a constant on device that goes into a standby mode when not in use, however the power draw is so little that it does not cause a problem. This is by far the best device I have seen for enternet media access and the price is great, with so many source vendors suppling storage of purchased movies off site there is no need for storage memory as in the past. I strongly recommend this product for anyone who wants access to enternet media without the interest in a gaming console or a Bluray player. It's also a great product for saving wear on existing consoles and for the price it is hard to beat!! I give it 5 stars.

I've been using Netflix online services for a while now and loving it - but, from our old Blu Ray player, we could not get subtitles, and my partner is Vietnamese and having the subtitles helps him understand the movie as he strengthens his English proficiency . . . witht the Roku XD, we have access to those programs on Netflix (still WAY too few) that have subtitles. The other channels and programs from Roku are, at least at this point, pretty weak - including Hulu+ - which, considering what you get, isn't really worth tacking on to your Netflix subscription. I have enjoyed accessing my Amazon Prime account on here, however!

The player was easy to connect, never drops signal from my wifi and generally has good quality viewing and is definitely worth adding to your home theater setup!
