) These are great books for grade school girls about a time in history that they know little about. It teaches manners and customes sometimes forgotten. I bought it for my grandaughter who loves everything about American girl dolls and also her name is Samantha.

Great books that are educational and entertaining.

My daughters received American Girl dolls for Christmas and their birthdays. While they loved their dolls a great deal before reading the books after reading them its as if they came to life. They really help to give each outfit and accessory kits special meaning.
My youngest daughter didn't like reading but she really enjoys these books. She can finish one in half a day.
In paticular these Samantha books teach children values. Samantha has a friend Nellie who is poor and she and her family work for Samantha's neighbor as servants. Samantha helps her friend in many different ways but at the same time she always treats Nellie as her equal.
I appreciate the fact that my girls can learn history in an entertaining way that they really enjoy. Plus these Samantha books let them see how different life was and how inventions have changed things so much just in the last 100 years.
I would without a doubt highly recommend these books to anyone!! I personally think their great!

A wonderful series to share with my grand daughter who has just begun her American Girl "stage" not to mention this being her first "chapter book" she has ever read. Glorious memories for her and ME!!!
Re-readding With Pleasure All Over Again

I have always enjoyed the American Girl Series..especially when I gave them to my Grand-children. Now I must say that I am re-enjoying them myself. A Recent severe brain injury at age 65 has left me with a stange condition of being able to write what I am thinking, but almost unable to read text. My memory is also badly impared. I used to read a novel a day, but not am re-learning to read all over again with the American Girl Serieds that I have ordered from both E-bay and Half.com. They are interesting storeies that I am enjoying. Oddly, by the time that I have completed writing these comments, it will be difficult for me to re-read the first part. Your doctor will know what this conditioin is called..but I have forgotten. Wish me luck on my journay.
