Review For: Samsung Galaxy Tab SCH-I800 2GB, Wi-Fi + 3G (Verizon), 7in - Black
First, let me say that I have not previously owned any other brand of tablet, nor any other model of Samsung tablets except this one, but I am totally sold on the SCH1800.
PORTABILTY: I can take this 7" model anywhere. I do not use cellular facility because my WiFi is all I need. I download everything I believe I'll need while I'm at home (or Denny's, or McDonald's, or pulled up into the driveway of almost any hotel/motel in town!) and then when I hit the road I'm st to play music, watch videos, play games or(perish the old-fashioned thought!) read books!
BATTERY TIME: My Samsung has not left me high and dry yet. I charge it every night while I'm sleeping so when I wake up we are good to go.
STORAGE CAPACITY: Mine has a 16-GB chip in the side. I use mine to look up scriptures during personal study and public talks; therefore, in additon to the Bible, I have stored a whole library of reference books, magazines, brochures, videos, drama tapes, and concordances, indexes, and a two-volume set of Bible encyclopedias on there, and I still have half of the chip to fill yet. That is in addition to about fifty secular books I have downloaded to read for fun.
CAMERAS: I have not used the front-facing one yet (the one you would used to show your face to your fellow Skyper), but I have taken some pictures with the other one. If you look hard enough you can find contrast settings, "film" speed settings (ISO 100-400), shutter speeds, scene settings (portrait to panorama), flash settings, and even self-portrait, but I have not yet found a zoom on the camera. That is one thing I miss. You can take VIDEO with this camera? Ever want to document a cute episode with a baby or a pet that just won't sit still? Just switch on video!
GAMES: They are numerous! Just be sure to read the reviews carefully to make sure you are getting what you THINK you are getting. Android does not yet screen submissions to thir market like some other markets do.
BOOKS: It's a matter of downloading the right reader for what you want to do: read or be read to. I use iSilo for my Bible, A-Reader for books.
ANDROID: Because it is such a universal operating system, you won't have any trouble finding the application you need. This system seems to have ironed out most of the kinks, but there is ONE that I have not figured out the cause for. Now and then, my tablet simply will not "fire up." When I press the power button, the lights blink, go out and the screen stays black. (Someone told me to repeatedly press the power button and the volume button in an undetermined and unpredictable combination; eventually it did turn on. This happened three times, each time after having been inside my purse all night. I think it might have something to do with the antenna/Wi-Fi/Cellular service search being blocked. But what do I know?
The only other downside is that if you want to use the cellular facility, you must buy the correct versio (mine is Verizon, just in case I would want to turn that facility on), and then you must agree to a two-year contract with that carrier at $30 a month! You get 2 or 3 GB for that, but my daughter uses it and tells me you can download a free data-meter that allows you to set limits on your data usage to prevent those dreaded overage fees, so no worries there.
Yes, I would buy another one if this one went up in smoke.
I have ALREADY recommended this product to four of my friends, and my husband bought one too! Let's start a Samsung Galaxy SCH1800 club!

Very nice "little" Android tablet.

Review For: Samsung Galaxy Tab SCH-I800 2GB, Wi-Fi + 3G (Verizon), 7in - Black
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is a pleasing 7-inch Android tablet. The user interface is smooth and intuitive. The screen is crisp and clear. The buttons and hardware are sold and high quality. Access to the Android marketplace makes 1,000s of applications readily available and extend the usefulness of the tablet. The weight of the device is nice. Battery life is so-so.

Better than IPad
Created: 01/03/11
I used to own an Ipad. I had it for 2 weeks and sold it because it was missing basic necessities. (i.e. Cameras, external storage, microphone, Flash support, etc.)
I bought a Galaxy Tab and am much more happy with it as it has all of those things plus more.
Honestly, the IPad's screen has much sharper images and is more responsive to the touch than the Galaxy Tab. But image quality and responsiveness is still good (although not great).
In summary, I love that the Galaxy tab fits into my pocket (not like a wallet, but close) and the ease of use.
If you're comparing IPad's to Galaxy Tab's, I've owned both and am glad I made the switch.

Stunning Samsung Galaxy Tab

Superb performance in a stunning and sleek size. That's my biggest take on this nifty device. We also have an iPad but I found it too bulky and weighty in my hand, you literally need two hands to keep it stable. With the Tab you can hold it in one hand and carry it in a pocket or small purse.
Like others I have also found that the battery life is very good. And I am also a big fan of the Android operating system. Android on the Tab is fast and reliable.
I am no super geek, but my humble opinion is that you will definitely love this device.

Galaxy Tab

This is a great tablet! Super fast and love the ability to access the Google Market! This is another great android device from Sprint. I did not get a plan through them however and just use it with WiFi functionality - it is PERFECT! Pick one up if you are on the fence about it - you won't regret it!
