Sony Handycam DCR-SX41 8 GB Camcorder - Silver

I have not used all of the functionality that this camera provides as I just pulled it out of the box and started recording things, an aspect that I really like about this camera's ease of use. The zoom is excellent for when you are far away from your subject but yet still able to get close enough without loosing focus. The 8MB of internal memory is pretty decent being that I was able to record quite a few of my daughters swimming classes before by a memory card.

The only thing that I have seen so far that I do not like is the fact that if you stop a current recording and place on standby and start recording again, it is saved as a separate recording and is not continuous. A bit nerve racking when its your child's turn to do something and you record it, stop it when its another child's turn and then record your child again. Its stored, in this case, as two separate recordings.

All in all. Very good product for the price. I would buy it again.

I like the camera. The quality of the picture is ok, but for the price you can't ask for more. The battery will do about 160 minutes of recording. I took the camcorder out in the cold (20 degrees) and the battery meter went down to 68 minutes. Once inside it when back up pretty fast.

The camera is very simple to use, you just open the LCD display, press record. Close the LCD when you're done. I love the software it comes with, I'm able to download my videos to youtube (or other websites) in minutes. I used the software to edit and upload previous videos from my old tape camcorder.

This camera is good for online uploads and will do for TV quality. If you want DVD or HDTV resolution, this camera will not do it, you need something more expensive. I'm happy with it, it fits everywhere.

The only reason I did not give this camera a rating of excellent was because it is lacking an on-board light which would help for recording in low-light situations. However, I do love the functionality of the camera. It's easy to use for people who are not very tech savvy, but offers enough options for people who are a little more advanced.

I love the size and weight of the camera. It fits nicely in your hand and the buttons are easy to access. The fact that it has a great lens was a huge plus. I own a Sony digital camera that I love as well, so I felt comfortable going with a Sony.

Downloading videos to the computer was a snap, fast download time, and good quality of the videos. The sound is great, it picks up voices and even has a feature where the microphone will zoom into whatever you're zooming in to video. I used it for the first time at my nephew's birthday party and my sister was so impressed she bought the exact same camera.

I'd say this is a great choice for the beginner to intermediate video maker who wants quality and easy functioning. I'm looking forward to taking more videos using the zoom feature.

I needed a replacement for my o.d 8mm Sony camcorder. I decided on the DCR-SX41 because it had the flash memory and I would have no tapes or dvds to worry about. Its taking time getting used to not having a separate view finder, which I prefer, but most camera in this range are that way. I love the compact size, which is great to take hunting because I can put it in my pocket. I save considerable money and the camera was perfect.

This is the best camera I have ever had (which includes Sony 515,828,Nikon). It comes with 8gb internal memory and slot for Sony Duo Pro case which can any size of memory. I used 16gb and let my movies go to that memory and my photos go to the internal memory. There is also a conversion case available on EBAY which allows you to use SDHC cards inserted into this carrier and then the carrier inserted into the camera. This works well and saves on cost since SDHD 16gb is less that $35 and Sony Duo 16gb is about $70. I bought a 100mAh battery with a special charger on EBAY for $26 and this is much more convenient than the 30mAh battery that comes with it. Plus this provides well over 7 hours of run time. The camera take good pictures both movie and still and it is very easy to change betwen the two modes. Even my grandchildren can take good pictures. I highly recommend this camera and specifically recommend that you get the SX41 which has 8gb internal memory as opposed to the SX40 which has only 4gb. The difference in usefulness is very significant. I paid $200 for mine including shipping.
