My wife is a Birder and I bought it for her so she could record her sightings while out in the field. Before she either had to remember what she saw or stop and take out pen and paper to write each sighting down. The Sony M-570V is simple to operate and was inexpensive. My wife has a soft voice yet it works great while held close for that type of recording.
Please keep making microcassette recorders!!!!!

) I am bidding on the 570's because I had one and used it so much, it finally died, but I am used to this model. I am also bidding on the other models by Sony because sometimes I need to use an external microphone and the 570 does not have a port for that.
But I tried digital recorders, and there is no way to save the recordings when the digital folders get full, so I am back to microcassette recorders. I wish the manufacturers would keep making them. I am afraid it may be difficult to find the cassettes pretty soon.
