| Fans of modern military strategy are going to gobble this game up like a bar of field rations. In SPEC OPS you're in control of a team of U.S. Army Rangers. Your mission is to guide your squad as you eliminate a series of targets and opponents. In addition to five major missions, you'll have to accomplish a series of subtasks in an allotted amount of time. All your missions are set in huge 3D, ultra-detailed outdoor environments, and most of them will revolve around objectives including reprisal attacks, seize-and-destroy assaults, counterterrorist attacks, and raid-and-destroy missions. Environments that you'll encounter include thick jungles, arctic tundra, and dense forests. Depending on your military training and your battlefield finesse you can choose between stealth and all-out frontal assaults, plus you can equip your troops with the latest high-tech gear like a GPS and night-vision goggles along with the latest in battlefield firepower. As a bonus you can grab a friend and play two-player, split-screen Co-operative mode. | |

) This game will keep you on edge! Dont expect to rush through this game and pick up an easy win, there are enemies where you dont expect them, and you wont always be able to see them. Be aware of crossfire and sneak ambush attacks. The graphics are good for a game thats not ultra-modern. As the player you have a wide variety of weapons to use, but some can be tricky to master, such as the explosive mine - be sure to get far away before setting it off or it will wipe out your character. This game could be played by any level of player, but it would be best for medium to high level players. Plus, if your not a "military game" fan you wont like this one, there is alot of missions and some "blood", so if your not into "battle and combat" then its not for you. On the other hand, if you like missions and mid-level violence - this one is a good addition to your games. Automatic weapons, explosives, traps, and team cooperation makes this military game a true-to-action experience. Set the brightness on your TV a little higher and you will be able to see the bad guys hiding alot easier, as some of the game play occurs in darker locations/times. Note to parents, if your buying this for your child/teen, you might want to consider the violence level, but its NOT too extreme and it simulates real military combat, showing how soldiers fight in reality rather than some fictional hero killing demons. Its a GOOD game for those who like military themes, and the action can be intense.

3.0/10 for Sound. Gung-Ho to Short Fuze, can you hear me, over? Roger that? Uh, chief, we're going to need a better sound system here.
2.0/10 for Gameplay. You're not the problem. It's the enemy, with uncanny accuracy and unlimited resources, that makes this game impossible.
4.0/10 for Lasting Appeal. Well, it surely will take a long time to get through it. And you can play two players at a time.

) This was a game I played many years ago. I enjoyed it a lot so I wanted to get it again for my kids to enjoy. It is funny how graphics have changed, but I can still play this game a lot better than the new systems with a lot more controls.

This game is a definite own if you like combat games. It is a little bit old school, but will get the job done. I will reccommend this game to anyone with a playstation console.

Product was purchased as a gift for my boyfriend to play while he is in Iraq. I didn't play it before I sent it to him, but i'm sure it is fine.
