taylormade r7 irons set
Created: 10/12/09
i purchased a new set of the taylormade r7 irons based on reviews from friends and testing at a local golf shop, after studing pricing i turned my direction to ebay and started shopping. i found several sets at a wide range of prices, but i was able to shop and find the set right for me. i have been very pleased so far with my purchase, just not enough time to play as much as i would like. The new clubs have a good solid feel to them and seem to have a large sweet spot. The only negative i see is these clubs appear to scratch easy, just under normal play conditions. (no not in the woods)

If you've still got an older set of TaylorMades, then probably stick to it.

As an owner of super steel burner irons by Taylor made I was keen to compare them to this updated model. What I found was not too much difference in performance although they seemed to fly off the face. Also my older irons hadn't worn as much as this set in half the years. It seems the need to look flashy means more wear off the pretty painted area.

TaylorMade R7 TP iron set 3-Pw

I purchased these irons about 3 months ago off of ebay. They came with Project X 6.0 shafts with a half inch extra length and 2* upright. These specs were perfect for my swing and body. The ball definitely comes off the face when hit in the sweet spot. The clubs have a look of a blade at address position but does have a cavity back for a larger sweet spot. One aspect that I am having to adjust to is the loft of the clubs. I have been playing with the old TaylorMade LCG Burners that came out in the mid-1990's. I noticed that I didn't hit the R7 shorter irons as long as I did with the Burners. After I looked on the TaylorMade website I found out why. The 7-PW irons on the R7's are 2 degrees more lofted than my Burners! Doesn't sound like much but it does make a difference. Not sure which set of lofts are standard. Nothing really negative about this I've just had to readjust my yardages for these clubs. Something to consider but overall you won't be disappointed in the overall quality of these irons.

Great Product, better than described

One of the best set of irons I have seen for the price. Excellent feel and forgiveness. Easy to hit for the mid to low handicapped golfer with a low trajectory yet plenty of spin. I would recommend these clubs to anyone who is looking for the next level of their game, and is looking to change from the offset high handicapper clubs to something more bladelike.
