TI-83 PLUS IS ON THE MARK
Created: 10/09/08
Texas Instruments produces some of the most popular and well known graphing calculators in the industry. The TI-83 plus can do most any math problem found in Algebra I, Geometry, and even some Algebra II/Trigonometry. The wide screen allows for graphing equations and multi-line functions.
The graphing capabilities of the TI-83+ are a superb choice for Algebra I classes. The ability to automatically find intersections and a variety of other important components of a graph are only key presses away.
The calculator has a powerful matrix editor allowing for easy multiplication, addition, and subtraction of matrices. Division of matrices is not possible. The list editor allows for statistical analysis of data both numerically and graphically. Graphically, the 83+ can plot data in several different formats.
Anyone who is familiar with the BASIC computer language can program the TI-83+ with ease. The calculator supports the use of almost every function through a program. Programs can be typed directly into the calculator, or on a computer. The TI-83+ also supports a special form of programs called Flash Applications. Flash Applications are generally quite complex, and are written in a special language on the computer.
Overall, the 83+ is an excellent choice for anyone taking an Algebra course or any math class above that. The calculator does basic arithmetic, graphic, statistics, matrices, and a variety of other mathematical operations.

Texas Instruments TI-83 series of graphic calculators
Created: 21/01/07
The Texas Instruments TI-83 series of calculators is probably the most popular line of graphic calculators you'll see in high school or college since it was first released in 1996. Thanks to it's 1999 release of the TI-83 Plus, it added 512KiB of flash rom which allowed for OS upgrades and applications. TI-83 also includes many features like function graphing, polar/parametric/sequence graphing modes, statistics, trigonometric, and algebraic functions. It's pretty easy to use but sometimes the combonations of controls and execution of things can be overwhelming. it just takes a little practice and remembering to be master of your TI-83 Plus graphing calculator.

a tool that a student cannot do without
Created: 08/11/09
my sister needed a calculator for her pre-calculus class because she lost her old one. TI-83 Plus is the standard calculator in that class so I just went on ebay to find one with reasonable price. Nowadays students would bring Ti-83 Titanium or Ti-89 series that have more functions and capability. I would have bought her a TI-89, but to replace her old one from school, I have to buy a TI-83. The TI-83 has the basic computational tools to get anyone through most of the materials in high school and even college mathematics. Very easy to use. Battery life last for the entire school year. Light weight, easy to carry around, although not pocket size. Overall if you do not have money to invest on a TI-89, buy a TI-83 plus.

Used Ti- 83 Plus Calculator

I will start with the dislikes. I wish i had a cover that the new calculator comes with, i purchased this specific one without it, but great deal non the less. I wish the calculator had a backlight so that low light visibility wouldnt be much of an issue. I may just be new to it, but i wish use- ability was alittle easier. Besides that, the calculator is the greatest calculator i have ever gotten. It would easily make a statistics class easier and more comprehendable than it would be otherwise(actually, ive been in statistics in the past without a graphic calculator, but you must have alot of time and dedication without it, not anywhere near practicle to attempt....) Overall, i love this piece of technology, its built ruggedly, it is built by Texas Instruments which might i add, i own products like it which have lasted quiet awhile. It will just about take the brain out of math and allow you to propel yourself into strong theories and intelectual based thinking. Its a great tool to have, i highly recomend having this (ti- 83) or the ti-84 calculators around.

Great all around calculator

I have owned a ti-83 plus for about 6 years. I first needed it for it's graphing abilities and figured I'd need a new calculator the higher up in math I would go. Well, it's lasted me through some mid level calculus and I won't need to upgrade at all during college. I like that most professors and teachers know how to use it and how user friendly it is. It doesnt have any programs installed on it that let you directly solve calc equations, which I guess can be a pain if you really need that, but I and most people I know have gotten by fine without that.
