Texas Instruments BA-II Plus Scientific Calculator

For those in business and/or accounting, this calculator is highly recommended. Unlike other calculators, such as math or science, which require complex manipulation and manual study in order to utilize them, the TI-BA is easy to understand and simple to use. The manual is written in standard language (no, you won't have to consult extra resources to comprehend) and one is able to grasp the key function patterns in little to no time. If you are an MBA, this calculator offers the best performance. It comes loaded with the most commonly used to those highly complex business equations and functions, with the ease of use. Although there be other similar products on the market, Texas Instruments are known for their durability and for getting it right the first time.

The only thing that could stand improving is the brightness and contrast of the digital screen layout.

I was required to buy a Texas Instruments financial calculator for my finance class. New calculators of this type are usually $40, and I really wasn't willing to pay that much for a calculator I'd only be using for one class (I mean it's just a calculator for heaven's sake!)

This product definitely won me over. It's refurbished, but works flawlessly, so you'd never know. Granted, it doesn't come with a case; but who needs a case,anyway?
And for 20 bucks?! A great deal for a great product!

If you need a financial calculator, buy one here. Furthermore, if you need one for a finance class and have a different calculator you're thinking of using, definitely spring for the financial calculator. It's true that you can program some non-financial calculators with financial functions, but if you're not tech savvy enough to do that then it would be a silly thing to do.

This thing really is a great tool. It makes TVM, cash flows, annuities, bond valuing--everything all a breeze to calculate.

This calculator has most of the capabilities for a financial person and it is approved for professional exams, CFA. It has a nice hard cover to protect it as with most TI calcultors, except for TI BAII Plus Professional.
HOWEVER, please do not expect it to be a easy to change the battery. You will be assured that your calculator will get ding when it comes time to change your battery.
Also, please don't expect to view the values you have entered for your variables all at once....like how you can see a bunch of values on a regular TI-83/84/89 display, because you just can't on a one line display with this calculator! And everytime you need to do a fresh calculation, it is a pain to have to hit "2nd" + "clear work" before starting because it is set up just the way it is. Aside from being the "approved" calculator you can bring to the exam, it is another piece of junk set to collect dust at the end of the day.
Stick with your regular TI 83/84/89 for all your non-exam use because the Financial Application has all there is you need.

Previously, I have always done computing of business function on regular scientific calculators, but I find using a dedicated business calc to do financial function calculations is really liberating.

Also, using the financial functions in Excel is really great; I mention this because the hardwired calc function in the calculator have the same names as the Excel "soft" ones!
