Great large screen multifunction scientific calculator
Created: 12/12/09
This is a calculator for scientific studies, which is a bit larger than others Ti-83+ OR Ti-89 but is very pleasant to use. Screen size is larger than previous Ti calculators and the resolution is higher. This enable more space for graphic functionality such as function (y(x), parametric, polar, 3D), sequence, or single points tracing.
The QWERTY keyboard enables the use of the calculator like computer, e.g. to type notes, or just to quickly compose operations.
Calculating precision is 14 digits (e.g. Pi is 3.1415926535898) and display precision is 12 digits (Pi is displayed as 3.14159265359).
Trigonometric functions is advanced: for example, tCollect() can simplify cos(t)+cos(t/2)^2 into (3cos(t)+1)/2.
Constants of the International System of Units are preset, and formula can be processed using units, e.g.: solve(P*0.01_m^3=(1E-3_kg/(16E-3_kg/_mol))*_Rc*295_°K,P) returns P=15329.8_Pa.
The V200 can also be used to play games, just by downloading some on the Internet then transfer them on the calculator using the special provided USB cable, or by exchanging between compatible calculators (89, 92+, v200) with jack-jack cable. Some games can be played with 2 players. Programs can also be loaded by the same way, e.g. to analyze functions, or to read text files (physics courses?!) with formated display (bold, italic, underlined, 3 font sizes, pretty-printed formulas, ...).
Applications provided by Texas Instrument also enable user to use the V200 as a PDA with a calendar where tasks and events can be added, and a contact list.
Finally, it can be used by geeks and even newbies who want to have a powerful calculator.

ULTIMATE CALCULATOR!!

I love the size of the screen on the calculator!! This calculator is perfect for derivatives, implicit functions, limits, etc. In other words this is the best for advance math courses such as CALCULUS! You have to get use to including the closed parentheses on every equations you use parentheses. It is neat you can program the answers to result the "exact answer, APPROXIMATE, or AUTO"! For example when calculating the square root of (8), the answer results in 2 * sqrt(2) for exact answer or 2.82843 for an approximate answer; which is the normal result on most other calculators such as TI-83. The clarity of the screen is great. It is neat that the fractions appear like the way you write on paper, expecially when you store your eqation into y= for graphing!!! Another thing you can do that is very neat is use split screen mode where you can view one thing and another thing side-by-side or top-bottom. For example, you can choose to view the home screen on the left side and view the graph on the other half of the screen.
The disadvantage are that it is difficult to use the voyage 200 without using both hands. Also compared to the calculators below TI-89 (TI-83,84,86); the TI 89, 92, and voyage lose the button having (x^2) and just has the (^) key. This key was very useful, but on the TI 89, 92, and voyage, you have press the carrot key for every power degree. For example for x^2 you press the letter x then press ^ lastly 2. Its not a big deal, but the button was very useful. The feature could have been included in the math catagory on the calculator, but for some reason its not. All together, this calculator is the ultimate calculator!

Worth it's weight in gold!

This calculator can do it all. If you need to graph any 2d or 3d functions, it can do it. If you need to complete complex derivates or intergrals, no problem. This is a great tool for anyone looking to complete a degree in mathematics or engineering! It is very simple to use but can complete the most complex functions. It is a great buy for the money and even though the TI-92 can be found for less money, the voyage 200 is the new model, and will stay relavent and up to date for quite a long time.

The Voyage 200 is definately one of the best (if no The best) graphing calculators in the market. It has immense capabilities, it is very customizable, feels very robustly built and it is easy to use. I'd recommend it to any engineer without second thought.
