Album Notes
The Irish Tenors: John McDermott/Anthony Kearns/Ronan Tynan.Personnel includes: John McDermott, Anthony Kearns, Ronan Tynan (vocals); Frank McNamara (arranger, conductor).Recorded live at the Royal Dublin Society Main Hall, Dublin, Ireland.Personnel: John McDermott (vocals, tenor); Anthony Kearns, Ronan Tynan (vocals, tenor); John McDermott, Jr. (vocals).Audio Mixer: Bill Somerville-Large.Recording information: Royal Dublin Society Main Hall (10/13/1998).Director: William Cosel.Arranger: Frank McNamara.Following closely and confidently in the footsteps of the stupendously popular THREE TENORS release--on which Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, and Jose Carreras turned their classically trained talents to popular song--THE IRISH TENORS employs the same formula with surprisingly fresh results. John McDermott, Anthony Kearns, and Ronan Tynan are three of Ireland's most accomplished interpreters of national vocal music. They give passionate readings of such age-old folk songs as "Minstrel Boy," "Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go?," and "The Town I Loved So Well."Also included are songs nearly everyone will recognize, including "Toora-Loora-Loora," "Danny Boy," and "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling." But those completely unfamiliar with the rich musical traditions of the Emerald Isle are in for a wonderful discovery in these superb renditions. The disc is recorded live in Dublin with a powerhouse 60-piece orchestra. McDermott, Kearns, and Tynan each sing several songs solo and also perform as a trio, lending their alternately tender and powerful vocal treatments to these timeless Irish classics.

Terrific Tenor Trio!

Created: 16/07/08
A great selection of Irish folk songs performed by John McDermott, Anthony Kearns, and Ronan Tynan. Each of these fine vocalists perform solos on this live (not studio) CD, but they also sing as a trio on numerous tunes. This CD is the audio portion of the live Dublin concert that is part of the Irish Tenors Essential Collection DVD (the other concert was in Belfast).

Another reviewer made reference to her CD not having the song "Voyage", but having the song "Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go?" that her friend's copy of the same CD did not have. Well, my CD has 21 tracks, including BOTH of the songs mentioned!
My CD is produced by Point Entertainment and has the item number MDT8552. I don't have a clue what the problem is with the different versions purchased by these two people.

I would be a little upset as well if my CD didn't have "Voyage" on it - it is one of John McDermott's trademark ballads. A different version of "Voyage" also appears on John's studio CD titled "Love is a Voyage" which I will review later. I am quite pleased with this CD, and would highly recommend it to any fans of Irish/Scottish/Celtic music.

This has got to be one of the greatest CD's on the market for classic Irish songs - You will want to listen to this over and over again - John McDermott's singing of Danny Boy is awesome - If Anthony Kearns singing of Grace doesen't bring a tear to your eyes , then check your pulse - Ronan Tynan version of The Town I Loved is Well makes you feel as you were part of it and can visualize it all - Only Our Rivers Run Free is outstanding and sums it all up for you love of Ireland and it fight for independence - All the others are just as fantastic - This CD is well worth the money - You will listen ot it over and over .

There is no strength without unity 29 + 5 = 1

. The Irish Tenors warm the cockles of me hard little heart with their harmony, soaring high notes & whiskey warm low notes. From the nostalgic to the toe tapping, a Great Buy!
Ronan Tynan, John McDermott & Anthony Kearns are all outstanding soloists who came together to be The Irish Tenors! Equally musically gifted, they are a pleasure to the ears!

My friend had this CD and I loved "Love is a Voyage". All the internet reviews raved about this sond. My CD deleted that song and had "Will you go Lassie" which my friends CD same cover did not have. So beware if you are after "Voyage" if is not on all these CDs. Great CD oveall though

This CD will put goose bumps on your goose bumps. Unfortunately there are several claiming to be the "Irish Tenors." You need to get the ones with Ronan Tynan. Great CD and done with great energy and talent and didn't even have to smash a guitar on stage.
