The Ugly Dachshund (DVD, 2004)

My son recently saved a Great Dane puppy from the animal shelter. I happened to remember a movie from the 60s about a Great Dane called the Ugly Dachshund so I purchased it from E-Bay for him. When we watched the movie, we were shocked to see how much things have changed. Suzanne Pleshette was so young and beautiful. The part she played was so silly. The background things were more fun than the plot or the performances. The old fashioned suburbs, the in-home parties, the furnishings, etc. Notice the breakfast she serves her husband, the twin beds they sleep in, the silly pj's, the makeup and hair styles. The movie itself is slapstick and the animals and trainers were great. This is a classic for anyone who loves dogs.

Very wholesome funny movie about a family in love with their beloved dachshunds. One day on the way to the vet for delivery of puppies, the husband falls in love with a great dane puppy and takes it home with the little puppies. The puppy grows way to fast and becomes a destructive chaotic distruption to the family and the wife says it has to go. A very good family film that kids will enjoy. If you are a dog lover you will enjoy this movie.

I bought this movie because I have a Dachshund. This movie is for any & all animal lovers :-). It is funny & made for the entire family, young & old. You can't go wrong watching this movie. The dogs, including the Great Dane, will have you laughing non-stop.

There is nothing about this movie I didn't like. It is a must see.

Loved this film when it first came out in the theater. Enjoyed it again when it was released on VHS. Now I finally got it in DVD. Absolutely love the Dean Jones/Suzanne Pleshette team, and Dean Jones is always great comedic fun when he's in films that involve animals. A good laugh when one needs a break from all of the reality TV.

I bought this movie as a gift for a fellow dachshund owner. I have watched this movie and just love it. Kids enjoy it because of the dogs and its something you can let your kids watch because its a nice, clean movie. I am so happy Disney decided to release this movie on DVD. I have two copies on video. All around cute movie especially for dachshund owners and people who have a little dog and a big dog for pets!
