Album Notes"The Ultimate Bee Gees" is a two-disc 50th anniversary compilation of hits by the disco band known as the Bee Gees. In total, "The Ultimate Bee Gees" features 41 tracks spread across two discs. The first disc is 78 minutes and 48 seconds long and includes disco favorites "Stayin' Alive" and "Jive Talkin'," while the second disc features tracks such as "To Love Somebody," "I've Gotta Get a Message to You," and a hidden bonus track, with a play time of 68 minutes. "The Ultimate Bee Gees" is more or less split into themes with the first disc being much more upbeat and the second disc slightly mellower. The Bee Gees consists of vocalists and guitarists Robin Gibb and Barry Gibb, as well as multi-instrumentalist Maurice Gibb. Colin Petersen played as the band's drummer for their first five albums, Vince Melouney served as lead guitarist for the first three albums, and Blue Weaver performed as the Bee Gees' keyboardist for a short amount of time. "The Ultimate Bee Gees" collection peaked at number four on the Top Pop Catalog.
