Not a very good value for the money unless you root and add a new rom
| No, I would not recommend this product.

I received my G Tablet about 2 months ago. It has it pluses but also have its minuses. The 10" screen is really good. It's nice and clear, bright and have a pretty wide viewing angle. But it is a fingerprint magnet so keep the enclosed cleaning cloth with you when you're using it. It is slower than I thought it would be. You can root it and add a different rom but I have no idea how to do that. I've searched the internet and couldn't find any site that gives you step by step instructions on how to do it. I did learn that you can install Android 3.0 and even Windows 7 on it. It does have applications on it A few of them are ok to good but most are more or less usless. Supposedly there is going to be a G Tablet market. The one they have on it now just sends you to another site which has very little apps on it and most are not very good at all. I bought it because I'd heard a lot of hype about it. It does have great potential but it does need speed improvement and memory upgrade. It's easy to use, you can use your fingers but I found that if you get a generic plain plastic tablet pen it's much easier to use. The keyboard is both good and bad. It works very well and is quite responsive. But it is large which is good in a way but it also block a good portion of the screen so I found myself when using it to have to type in a portion of the screen at a time, hide the keyboard, move the screen, the open the keyboard again. Kind of a hassle. I would recommend if you have the space to use either a wireless or USB keyboard if you are going to be doing much in the way ot typing. I have a generic 7" Android tablet. It runs Android 2.2. I hate to admit it but a this pure Android tablet runs faster, and has many more apps for it and it can use the Android Market directly. The screen though isn't as good as the G Tablet. The keyboard on it is really small but is more useable using it as a thumb keyboard. I want the G Tablet to be a bette tablet. If I could find out in plain english instead of tech speak, how to do it, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Like I said, it has a lot of potential but definitely needs improvement. Many people have stated than when they first got the G Tablet and tried to use it they either returned it if they good or put it away to gather dust. So if you know how to root and add a new rom this I would highly recommend it. But if you can't then I would have to say to purchase something other than this tablet. It's a shame because it has the potential to be a great tablet.

Wow. That sums it up. Wow.
3 Bills for a Tegra 2 dual core CPU device with a choice of OS's; up to 1.4 GHz overclocked; Froyo, Gingerbread, and Honeycomb: And an external removable SD card to boot? I got one with a non-stock, but stable, Froyo ROM already installed.
Android Market is ROM dependent, but hey, what isn't: FRAGmentation IS.
Actually, you could get it for closer to 2 bills. I paid extra for an installed screen protector, installed back protector, non-keyboard folio, and HDMI dock. The dock itself is $60 on Ebay which allows you to view your screen on your HDMI input 60" plasma screen if you so desire. If you've ever tried installing a screen protector on a 3" cell phone screen, imagine doing it on a 10" tablet: How much is that worth? Then add in the back protector. $100 is on the low side.
Ok, it doesn't have hardware (read Graphics) acceleration on Gingerbread and Honeycomb (for now), but hey, that is what overclocking is for. Or you could stay on Froyo, have hardware acceleration, and not have to overclock: Whatever. The options are limitless. Viewsonic is sooo nice that you don't really have to root (bypass security measures) to do this, hence the mature state of modding on this device.
I'll say that again: Due to the tacit approval of Viewsonic, software modifications to the gTablet is at a mature state some 10 months after initial release and is still growing. Here's to VS maintaining that high-ground.
The only other major complaint I've heard is the narrow view-angle screen; which in my book is a feature: Call me a prude but I don't want people looking over my shoulder and seeing what I'm doing without my say so. I like my narrow view-angle screen; especially in public.
So: Wow! Get it while the gettin's good.
As a comparison:
MSI planned a 10" Tegra 2 Android (Gingerbread?) for July which is still not out 9/13/2011.
9/13/2011 Lenovo has a Tegra 2 Honeycomb tablet on their site starting at 5 bills for just the device. Software modifications of this device will most likely require root access to bypass major security measures. I put in an order, just for kicks, and got a 10/4 delivery date at a price of 6-7 bills with folio, dock, pen, and an upgraded 1-yr on-site warranty. Of course I canceled it. I just wanted to see whether it was REALLY available on 9/13: NOT. Oh, but the Lenovo tablet did have Gorilla(TM) Glass: Woohoo.

Very impressive hardware for the price. Works remarkably as far as speed. Was not impressed with the out-of-the-box OS. The included version of Android 2.2 Froyo is a modified version that is not your every day version of Android. If you are looking for something that works closely to the version of Android you'll find on a smartphone, you'll have to root this and flash a new rom such as CyanogenMod rom, etc. Android market (as seen on smartphones) is not available on this tablet...instead is a website that can you can find available apps.
After flashing to CyanogenMod 7, I couldn't be happier with this product. it runs like a dream. I have full android market access and I'd be willing to say that it runs better than any IPad.

The best tablet for the money. I purchase a used Gtablet for $175. This is not a cheap clone.
The Good: Quality hardware (Tegra 2 Procesor, 512 RAM, 16GB, 10.1in, ports (USB, MACRO USB, 3.5mm, micro sd, and using a dock the HDMI). Very important is the support for the developers, there are many custom ROMs to upgrade your tablet and a full Honeycomb is around the corner, but there are many Froyo and Ginger that work excellents. The screen is very responsive that is very important.
The Bad: The view angle is horrible you need the tablet in front of you to view the screen perfectly. No silicone cover or otterbox, I have the leather cover that is excellent but sometimes I want to use without it and a good quality silicone cover will be fantastic.
Conlusion: Compared with most expensive tablet (Galaxy tab, Toshiba Thrive, Asus Pad, Xoom and Acer Iconia) this tablet offer almost the same quality of hardware, I recommend this for a first time users or for your childrens that is excellent for educational games and applications.
