Connick's mentholated vocals are most often compared to Sinatra, but you can also hear the influence of Mel Torme, Chet Baker, Mose Allison and Bobby Dorough, among others. Ultimately though, Connick puts his own stylistic stamp on each selection, with his cool, behind-the-beat phrasing and easygoing swing.

Meet Harry Connick, Jr.

Created: 12/07/10
This was the album that turned a little known jazz/pianist/singer from New Orleans into a household name and brought back the big band sound to a whole new generation. Many bands tried to duplicate Harry Connick, Jr.'s successful sound from this album, but many, including the Royal Crown Revue, and others, came up well short. This album is a must have for any lover of, what Harry calls "retro" music. One of the top albums of the 1990's by far. If you don't have it, get it.

My First Harry

Created: 12/08/06
This was the CD that introduced me to Harry Connick, Jr. offically. This CD made me a huge fan of his. I now own most of his CDs and all because of this one. His talent blew me a way. And the funny thing is that, at the time, I was not in any way into this type of music. Harry changed all that.
