Weeds - Season 3 (DVD, 2008, Multi-Disc Set)

Movie synopsis

Mary-Louise Parker is back as pot-dealing widow and single mother-of-two Nancy Botwin for a third season of this hilariously subversive series. Thanks to the unresolved murder of Peter, her DEA agent boyfriend, Nancy has yet to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And it isn't just the Feds she has to worry about--Peter's ex-wife, Valerie (Brooke Smith of THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS), is also on the prowl. Of couse, that is just the beginning of the madness. Her teenage son wants to help out with the family business, her live-in brother Andy (Justin Kirk) ships out for Iraq, and dangerous drug dealing associate U-Turn has Nancy by the stems. Meanwhile, on the bureaucratic side of the Agrestic township, unscrupulous real estate developer Sullivan Groff (Matthew Modine) is shaking things up between council members Celia (Elizabeth Perkins) and Doug (Kevin Nealon). Mary-Kate Olsen (THE WACKNESS) also guest stars as the new girlfriend of older son Silas.

Editorial reviews

"In WEEDS' wackiest year yet, Nancy went gangsta, stalker her second dead hubby's ex, and spread wildfires through California."

Possible to Improve on Perfection?

Created: 04/06/08
Season Three of "Weeds" continues the upward arc of the series' second year with more twists, turns and cliffhangers than the best Hitchcockian thriller.

With Nancy's business having become a real family affair, the Botwin family finds themselves in dire straits. Nancy owes drug gangster U-Turn $150,000. And with a faux-Evangelical developer taking his sights on Agrestic, you can bet that by the end of season three things will never be the same.

The cast — even new addition Mary Kate Olsen — continue to deliver fantastic performances. With the dawn of season four only weeks away, fans won't have to wait long to get their fix.

If you love Weeds, be sure to check out season two as well:

My favorite show!

Created: 16/04/09
I have been an avid Weeds fan since it first aired on Showtime. The story line of a "suburban" mom trying to provide for her family by selling weed and then growing her business is very intriguing. The characters are hilarious, the writers do an excellent job...this is the first Showtime series that I have truly enjoyed. It is one of those shows that you can watch over and over again and still enjoy. I can't wait for Season 4 to come out in June.

I purchased this for my boyfriend who became hooked a few months ago when I introduced him to Season 1. He was stationed in Iraq and has missed a lot of TV while he was there.

Catchy, But Hopefully The Final,

Created: 13/05/08
Weeds Season 3 was a "good while it lasted" type of season. The first season really caught my eye and had me wondering what would happen next week, while the second season continued that want of mine to see what was going to happen next. Unfortunately, after I laughed once or twice per episode in season 3, I realized all good things come to an end and that is what I think now of Weeds. The storyline of selling weed, gangs and the upkeep of the community turned more into a "Days Of Our Lives" venture rather than a good fun-loving comedy/Satire. It MAY be worth renting but other than that, it's done. Even if they continue the show, I no longer have the desire to watch it.

Weeds is a very entertaining series

Created: 13/05/08
I decided to buy it after watching all 3 seasons on TV. This is one of those rare series where you get hooked right away and don't want it to end. Now that I'm buying up the DVDs- I've gotten my husband hooked on it to. It's funny, it believable, it's multi-faceted, it's "real"- it's an overall a 5 star show, all the way through season 3! I cant wait for more! A+

Great Show, but not for everyone

Created: 17/07/09
I have never been one that likes "Soap type" shows. But I have really gotten into the show Weeds. It's not for everyone and I don't think my Mother would like it. I have season one, two, three and four. And when season five is released I will get it too. If the subjest matter is something that is not affensive to you, I think you will love it.
