I bought this recently bought this scope for hunting where i live in remote in Alaska on Kodiak Island. I mounted the scope on my Ruger M77 .338 caliber rifle which is a large caliber with a lot of recoil. After sighting the rifle in, and shooting three deer, the scope has held up excellent to the recoil.
I chose the higher 24X so could look at distant things, instead of carrying binoculars. I only shoot the rife at 8X or under, otherwise your likely to get the scope too close to your eye and get bit by the recoil.
The clarity is great, comparable to expensive scopes, especially in low light situations.
Adjustments are straight forward. I tend to forget to use the illuminated recticle.
The rings that came with the scope, which I didn't use, seem light weight.
Overall it is a quality scope that is well worth the money.

An affordable side focus scope in this magnification range. The seller told me that these scopes are made in china at the same factory that makes scopes for Bushnell. I installed the scope on a Savage Edge in .223 and the scope was easy to zero and is spot on. I have no issues with the scope other than it being made in china. The bottom line is that the optics are clear and bright, the quality seems to be very good, the price is affordable and it comes with a lifetime warranty. I hope this helps.

Very Good Scope For The Price!!!!!!

I highly recommend this scope for those wanting Very Clear Optics with a lot of magnification. I mounted this scope on a heavy barreled Remington 513T Match Master rifle in .22 caliber using Weaver bases and Low 30mm rings. By using Low rings I was able to get about 1/16 inch barrel clearance even with the Large objective lens on the A-1 Optics scope thus achieving a low line of sight and flat trajectory. With this setup I am able to shoot 1/2 inch 3 shot groups at 50 yards and 1 inch 3 shot groups at 100 yards. At 30 yards the groups are small as 5/16 inch.
I love the Side Focus. This makes it easy to set parallax at different distances without raising up from the shooting bench and creating tension in your muscles before the next shot.
The large turret knobs are great for zeroing your rifle but care must be taken when transporting your rifle in padded cases to avoid moving the knobs off zero. I check each time I take the rifle out of the case to make sure the knobs are still zeroed. Once the rifle is zeroed the knobs can be removed and reset to that particular zero setting for future reference. This makes it easy to check the settings each time you remove the rifle from the case.
The rangefinder works good also and is calibrated with the scope set at 10X magnification. Therefore, to use the rangefinder accurately one must be sure to set the scope at 10X magnification to get correct distance readings.
The illuminated reticle is nice to have for low light situations as one might encounter in hunting although I probably will never use that feature for target shooting.
Recoil is not a factor with my .22 caliber but the A-1 Optics is advertised to withstand recoil from large rifles. All their other advertising holds true from my experience with my scope so I assume the recoil claims are true also.
I wish the eyepiece adjusting ring or Reticle Focus Ring had a locking ring although it stay set very well. I had to turn the ring OUT several turns to focus to MY EYES and kept wondering if I might accidentally screw the ring completely out of the scope. I don't know if it will screw out of the scope or if it has a built-in stop point to prevent this from happening.
All things considered, if you want an excellent scope for very little money (mine was $109.95 plus shipping) I don't see how you can go wrong. A scope of this quality in other brands would surely cost several hundred dollars.
Mine came with a 3 inch sun shade which I find helps a lot to cut glare. I recommend always using this sun shade as it seems to make the target more clear.
There you have it, buy it and try it, I think you'll like it.
