Wow! I have been a buff of presidential lore for a long time, and am not easily shocked. Reading these transcripts of Nixon's Oval Office recordings floored me not only because of the paint-peeling language used by Nixon, but also due to the extreme level of paranoia contained within Nixon's brain. He believed everyone who wasn't on his side was an enemy, and he wanted to use every bit of power within the president's authority to eliminate any threat to his power. Get this book not only for the history contained within (especially the "smoking gun" conversations between Haldeman and Nixon that ultimately led Nixon to resign) but also for the incredible drama. Hollywood couldn't write a script this compelling!
