    Accounting and your business.

I love the writers of this book. if you see an accounting book by David F. Hawkins, you can be sure it is accurate. The chapters are explain with great precision of terms, there for a good understanding of procedure by the students.

When you own a book of this quality, you own it for life. References in the book is always help full to decide on a particular problem in accounting.

The mind is the only faculty that forgets. We have to refresh our minds once and a while. keep your books, they are precious.

What i dislike about the book is the time that we spend studying it. And so little time spend in practicing the recommendation in the book.

In small business we need a lot of references for statements and ratio. We can not compare a small business accounting with an international, but the input of time and the cost of keeping a good accounting system in balance is the same, in less hours of work on a subject. Balancing asset with liability and capital is the same, what is not the same is the money invested in the co. Accounting always start with a good set of books, whether it is on a computer or by hand. Always balance your debit with your credit in your journal, so once you post in the GL, your books balances. So many people plug there books, it is the accountant job to find these plug and correct them. A plug in a journal or GL can cost a lot of money at your fiscal end. Always seek the help of a good chartered accountant for your year end, he will save you a lot of money, the legal way of doing it. If not sure of the entry in your books, give the person in charge a ring, it will be a pleasure for him or her to give you an answer, this phone call can save you a couple of hundred $ at the end of the year. Well! one thing, during income tax, we call the accountant's nite mare, the ring could take longer to come back to you.

thank you for the opportunity of expressing myself in a subject that i just love.

to whom ever is reading this review, maybe you need it for your study, i say good luck to you. you have a great future in front of you, and may i say that work is serous affair, but have fun, stop and laugh for a minute or two.

    take care.

the next review i would like to do it in french. chow.

    Good and bad parts.

Not being an accounting major, I have some problems with this book. You can definitely tell that it is written by Harvard authors. It makes a lot of assumptions about things you know. Problems at the end of each chapter ALWAYS contain questions about things that aren't taught until later chapters. That can be very difficult. This international version is the exact same as the U.S. version for anyone that is wondering so you can save money that way.

Accounting Text & Cases 12th Edition

    Created: 29/04/09
I used this book in my MBA accounting class at Concordia University Irvine and I really loved it. It was very interesting and challenging I learned a lot and I really recommend it even if you are not a student .it teaches you step by step all the accounting principles in an easy helpful way. It might be a good source for you if you want to start a small business.
What I dislike about this book that it has some difficult study cases that might be hard to understand sometimes. But I think the authors put some great work writing this helpful book.
Over all it’s an excellent book.

Accounting by Hawkins, Merchant, Anthony (2006)

This book explains well basic accounting principles and uses realistic case studies as examples. I bought this book to use in my MBA program at an AACSB accredited institution, and it has been better than any of the books I ever saw as an undergraduate. The book is very thorough, although some of the things it expalains seem to be it a little bit out of order. (This is usually basic information that people with business knowledge should know, however). If you can weed out the details, this book is excellent.
