Blows my notebook and desktop out of the water.

I bought this product because I'll be moving around quite a bit and I needed a laptop that's small, lightweight, and travel-friendly but doesn't sacrifice performance.

There has been speculation as to whether the netbook can hold up against the standard notebook. Compared to my notebook and desktop, this netbook blows them out of the water. For starters, this netbook has more harddrive space (160 GB) and more RAM (2 GB) then my notebook and desktop combined.

I decided to put this netbook to the test to see how it fared. Internet connectivity and speed checked out. Flash player for watching youtube or hulu videos checked out. Keyboard and mouse is optimal and comfortable. LCD screen, perfect. Battery life is 3 hours, which was way more than my notebook so it definitely checked out. Programs such as MS Office or Adobe, works just fine. No problems with the wifi or USB ports.

I've never really used the CD/DVD feature on my other computers anyways, so it really didn't matter to me if this netbook didn't come with it.

Although not too much of a concern for me, just be wary of the processor. For example, if you're watching a flash player video and you start moving the mouse around too much, the
video will get choppy. Unless if you're a hardcore gamer, the processor shouldn't be too much of a concern.

All in all, it's a matter of the individual's perspective and preferences. For example as I mentioned earlier, if you're looking for a gaming laptop, then this isn't the laptop for you. But, if you're worried that this netbook is a step down from a standard notebook, I can safely tell you that it's not.

This netbook is a really great investment I've made and would recommend it to my friends. I'm giving this netbook a 5-star rating based off the average user's perspective.

Acer Aspire One Netbook

I bought the Acer for 40% what it would have cost me for a new one. This one came with a case, a key pad add on, a usb wireless mouse and windows XP, enough to get started. The netbook works great and I've loaded it with all the programs that a multi-use computer should need and there is still plenty of hard drive space left over, but the battery is quick to run out...well, it is the 3 cell that comes with the unit. So, I bought a 6 cell that should give the unit a longer batt life. This little Acer netbook is not for ME anyway. It's time to pay forward. Time to put up or shut up, and since I have always said the key to a better tomorrow is a good education today,I am fronting the tuition, books, supplies and transportation costs to send my wife's niece back to college and since I'm putting up the bucks, well, I want her to have what ever she needs to get the sheep skin in a timely manner. Since she is taking accounting and finance, a small, yet powerful computer should be just the ticket for her to use in class or at school. The Acer netbook is nice and small, so it shouldn't be a problem for her to transport it around. She rides around on a little scooter.

not very bright display and gleaming on the sun.
Pros: Portable, easy to use, even runs office and can multi-task. I'd use a copy of XP that's been "lited" but I found this machine a little cracker and it's my preferred machine to use on the move. Buy the Linux one and then stick XP on it.
Cons: You won't be playing any 3D games on it but then again that's not why you buy a machine like this.
Summary: The Acer looks fantastic. Works really well and is relatively quiet. The Track pad is a little small, so buy a separate laser mouse. I use this machine all the time when I'm travelling and it happily runs office or my music. Indeed I pair this with

This netbook is wonderful. It has a bright clear display, fast processor. I bought this netbook after quite a bit of research and comparing many laptops and netbooks. I ultimately choose the Acer Aspire one because of the great online reviews I read. What I really like about it is the fact that it does not heat up like other netbooks in the same class. I love the fact that you can remove the battery because it is external. I also like the fact that that Acer believes in using quality processors and higher ram. So far I have not found anything I don't like about it. My reason for purchasing is that I will be going back to school this winter, And since the price books is outragous I decided that I would by them as ebooks and print off what I need when I need it.
