    Movie synopsis

This frank drama contrasts the lives of two brothers who are opposite in a almost every way. Joe (Brad Pitt) is the perfect son and athlete obsessed with his dream of a track scholarship. His brother Billy (Rick Schroder) is a short-fused teenage rebel paroled from reform school. When Joe talks Billy into joining a rival school's track team, he unexpectedly finds himself racing against his own brother and possibly killing his scholarship dreams, as well as his relationship with Billy. Pitt and Schroder are fantastic as the bickering brothers who can't seem to come to a truce.

this was a solid movie for it's time.who knew brad pitt would become such a big star.heck rick schroder was the main star at the time.it is about a broken family and a pair of brothers brought together through tragedy and a track team.one a clean cut kid and the other a juvenile delinquent.still they are brothers and devolop a good relationship.it is a solid drama and nice simple story.the acting was just fine.i gave it 3 and a half stars out of 5.is it worth buying.probably not.rent it first.if you like it then buy it.i did.

I bought this DVD trying to acquire all Brad Pitt movies. I was pleasantly surprised by this film. Two brothers raised in the same house but following totally different paths find that their lives begin to intertwine and then merge. This film shows that good and bad exist in all of us and with the right motivation all of us can cross the line and still come out of it with the skills and drive to be productive and successful. While this wasn't a super mega movie it was well worth watching over and over. Brad Pitt and Rick Schroeder were both able to bring emotions to the viewer that evey family deals with and show us that sometimes things just turn out right.

    Great Movie!

This was a wonderful movie. Brad Pit and Rick Schroder played their parts well as rival brothers coming together and learning how to love and support each other against the odds.

    Running a little predictably

    Created: 10/02/09
This movie reminds me of the "say no to drugs" videos/commercials that were also spawned in the late 80's and early 90's. It has a very predictable plot with several moral lessons to be learned (don't drink or do drugs, say no to peer pressure, don't steal, do your best, family is more important than friends). The acting is moderately tolerable and the only reason I own this movie is due to the fact that it is one of Brad Pitt's early works.

Great running movie. It is really hard to find a real quality film that is realistic like this one. Schroeder and Pitt work flawlessly together in this drama. I was a high school runner and can honestly tell you this film is inspiring. Forget Pre and Chariots of Fire, check out this film!
