If you like Wii Fit, this is similar but you do a lot of jumping in this one. If you are put effort into it, you'll burn calories & have fun.

The mat (32.5”x36.5” wide) has a 10' long cord that plugs into the first gamecube controller port. Would have been nice if it were wireless.

You can play as your own Mii & keep track of your progress via graphs, etc. wh There are a lot of different games and levels, so I will list the games & what is involved. This info is taken from the instruction booklet that comes with it-with bits of my own info thrown in.

** indicates a game can be played either in single or multi-player mode.

**TIMBER TRAIL: Run as fast as you can while jumping over and dodging logs.

MOLE STOMPER: Try to quickly hit all of the moles as they appear.

KAYAK ATTACK: Go kayaking down a raging river (escape whirlpools & hit jumps) Use remote as a paddle while standing on the mat.

PIPE SLIDER: Slide down a slick pipe while dodging obstacles. Sit on the mat for this one & use your hands to steer/speed up.

**MINE CART ADVENTURE: Take a wild mine cart ride. Stand on the mat & shift your weight by lifting up which ever foot is necessary to steer the cart around corners. Use the remote to gain speed.

MOUNTAIN BOARDER: Slide through a grassy field on your board while landing tricks. Depending on the placement of your feet/jumping, you will do tricks & obtain points.

SPEED ROLLER: Speed through the course as fast as you can on in-line skates. Alternate your footing to “skate” & use the remote to “steer” where you are going.

LAKE-TOP TRAMPOLINE: Perform amazing tricks in mid-air. You are basically jumping on the mat for this one. Screen shows which area of the mat to press to perform the trick and gain points.

**STONE STEPPER: Sprint across stone pillars in a race to the finish line.

**SPRINT CHALLENGE: Run as fast as you can through the course to earn the best time.

**HEAD ON HURDLER: Race to the goal while clearing hurdles to get the best time.

**LOG LEAPER: Jump logs as they come at you from all sides to avoid getting knocked over the edge.

**CONVEYER RUNNER: See how far you can run without falling off the course. There will be obstacles to jump over too.

**SEESAW BATTLER: Put your button pressing skills to the test with this new variation of hot hands. You need to press the area of the mat that is shown on the screen.

**JUMP ROPE: Play jump rope for as long as you can without tripping.

(MULTI ONLY) WATERFALL CLIMBER: Work in sync with a friend to climb a waterfall. You need to time your actions together to complete the challenge and get over the waterfall.

All activities are in Free Play Mode. There is also the Outdoor Adventure mode (in varying levels) that have a combination of the different activities listed above-kind of like a triathlon. You can also customize your own course. Also available is the Exercise Training mode. You can pick Full Body Exercise, 5 minute Easy, 5 minute Hard, Relaxed, & Upper body. Each has the activities from above that target those particular areas of exertion.

Overall, if you like family games (and not the shooter type gory stuff) this is a pretty fun game to pick up! The graphics are fun, colorful, and cute-more cartoony-which I do not mind in the least. I think it is part of the charm of the Wii games.

    Overall, if you like family

    Wii Active Life: Outdoor Challenge

This is an excellent product, which is an ACTIVE video game designed to be fun for the whole family and provides exercise at the same time. Keep your feet (or your hands) busy on the sensor mat, and also move your hands with the Wii remote as you interact with the game. There are many different events and levels to keep one occupied. This is a VERY worthwhile game and I cannot wait until there is more 'Active Life' games for the Wii!

    Wonderful active game

    Created: 05/02/10
Kids and adults alike will enjoy laughing and being active together around a TV of virtual race/challenge environments. My favorite is the mine cart races. My family played for 3 hours at a time on Christmas. The learning curve is easy and it's instant fun to be had. Many different challenges that are fun and train you in body eye coordination. It's a great work out without it feeling like work at all; more like hard play. I have had this game for over one year and it is always a hit at parties. Now my nephews and niece get to enjoy it. Highly recommend!

This is a great challenge in motion!!

I love the variety of games and the fact that you can work as a team or compete against each other or just play by yourself! There are lots of different movements that will get your heart rate up before you know it in the name of fun and work you out. It is great fun and a challenge at the same time!! I bought it because it was part of the active lifestyle series! Enjoy!

    Fun for the entire family

    Created: 30/12/10
I purchased this game as a gift for my teenage daughter for Christmas. I was looking for something fun and different from what we already had. We own a large selection of Wii games. I found exactely what I was looking for.

The entire family ended up having a blast with this game. My daughter, sister, brother in law,my nephews(ages 3 & 5)and I played the "free play" option. We ran it like a tournament, each of us playing each activity. (age range 3-41)

Sometimes when there is a game that has multiple activities, the skills to play all the activites are the same,ie. shaking or flicking the wii remote. Not in this game. I am sure that my daughter thought she had it made when she was playing with the "older set", but that was not the case. With the actions being different for alot of the games, everyone had something that they were the best at, even my 5 year old nephew. He just loved the game. He wanted to play after the rest of us had finished. My 3 year old nephew liked the mole stomp and the running games.

Even Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed watching all of us play. The afternoon was filled with laughter and cheering, what else could you want from a family game. If you are looking for a fun game that gets your blood pumping and is lots of fun, this is the game for you.
