Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights (DVD, 2003, 2-Disc Set, Special Edition, Holiday Packaging)

Seth Kearsley|Theatrical release: 2002|Rating: PG-13 (MPAA)

Movie synopsis

Adam Sandler and director Seth Kearsley present an animated Hanukkah tale with ADAM SANDLER'S EIGHT CRAZY NIGHTS. Davey Stone (Sandler) is lurching down a wayward path. He's a drunk and aging delinquent, infamous in Dukesberry for spreading misery as deftly as he belches full sentences. He's facing prison when Whitey Duvall (Sandler again), a lovable, physically challenged man, proposes that Stone work with him at the community center as a referee for the local basketball league. The surly Stone accepts the job, and moves in with Whitey and his twin sister, Eleanore (also voiced by Sandler). But the true test is whether Stone can rise above his self-destructive habits in order to reunite with his former girlfriend, Jennifer (Jackie Titone), and act as a role model for her young son, Benjamin (Austin Stout). The snow-covered landscapes in EIGHT CRAZY NIGHTS have a pleasing, three-dimensional realism that's as cheerful as a Hallmark holiday card. Sandler, with his wide range of inane, high-pitched voices, is as funny as ever, punctuating the innocent world of EIGHT CRAZY NIGHTS with the refreshingly irreverent brand of humor he displayed in HAPPY GILMORE, THE WEDDING SINGER, and BIG DADDY. Though the film isn't really for kids, Sandler and Kearsley manage to make even the more daring animated characters--like one with three breasts--seem harmless. EIGHT CRAZY NIGHTS also features the voices of Jon Lovitz, Kevin Nealon, Rob Schneider, and Tyra Banks.

1 crazy night with "Eight Crazy Nights"

First of all....Excellent movie... If you are a fan of adam sandler movies, then this movie is for you. It is a cartoon movie made to look like the real life actor. But when you hear that its a cartoon, dont be discourage to see it, because it is oriented for an older audience, as it is rated PG-13. Its probably a shorter movie, only lasting 76 minutes, but you hardly notice when you are caught up in the excitement of the movie.

This hanukkah based movie also includes musical moments where they change the words of known jewish songs to fit this movie. This movie also features the voice of Rob Schneider, who seems to make a common appearance in all of Adam Sandler's movies.

When watching this, you witness the tale of Davey Stone (adam sandler) play the "grinch" of hanukkah as he tries to find who he really is in life after a tragic accident that changed his life when he was a kid. When he gets in trouble, he is sentenced to community service with his old basketball referee WHITNEY, who in my opinion is the funniest character in the movie. This dwarf with a high pitch voice adds to the laughs with numerous accounts of misfortunes and a hairy back and underside.

You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll love this movie

Really great holiday film

Eight Crazy Nights - A Great Holiday film featuring some really great original songs from the Songster himself!

I really enjoyed this film. It fetaures really funny scenes and amazingly clever songs. Although I'm not a huge fan of musicals Eight Crazy Nights is one of my favorite holiday films.

The characters are great and Adam Sandler does a great job voicing multiple characters.

Final Verdict:

4/5

Rent or Buy?: This is must buy, add it to your holiday collection. You won't be dissapointed.

Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights

Created: 05/01/10
being jewish, and since my husband and i had never seen this movie before, i decided to get it for him for hanukkah this past year. we watched it together the 2nd night, and while they do mention hanukkah in it many times, it really has nothing to do with hanukkah, nor explains the holiday at all. however, it was a cute (yet corny) story about a man who lears how to be a functioning part of society again with the help of his friends. sweet story. kids will love it. and ya gotta love the hanukkah song at the end. lol.
