The Adventures in Babysitting Movie
Created: 29/05/09
If you like the classic 1980's Action Adventure Comedies, this is a good choice to have in your collection. Plenty of laughs & adventure with a touch of romance in this movie about a babysitter who thought she was going to be on a dream date, instead finds herself in for a boring night of watching 3 kids, or so she thought. When her friend Brenda calls from a downtown Chicago bus station is when the adventure starts. Surviving a tire blow-out, her Mom's car being shot, a mob of angry car thief's, street gangs, singing the blues, catching her dream date with another girl & a race against time from getting caught in the city, her evening is anything but boring. A great classic for the whole family. Contains some mild language & violence.

Stands the Test of Time
Created: 06/02/08
This is a classic 80's teen movie, but unlike some others in this category, it stands up well to the test of time. The movie is well-acted and highly entertaining from start to finish. Elisabeth Shue is fabulously funny as the luckless babysitter who is incessantly mistaken for that month's Playboy centerfold. One of my favorite scenes involves a young Vincent D'Onofrio (in a role quite unlike his “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” character), long blonde hair, and the greatest of all superheroes, Thor. The movie also features a sing-along moment when the group find themselves in an inner city blues bar where "no one gets out without singin' the blues." But the best part has got to be the babysitter's hapless best friend, Brenda, stuck in a bus station without her glasses, petting a rat that she believes to be an innocent little kitty. If this movie doesn't make you laugh, you have no funny bone.
