Tintin rules!

Created: 02/12/06
Although it is known as "The thinking boy's comic book", Tintin really appeals to people of all ages and both genders! The plot is always exciting, and there are numerous twists and turns throughout each story, with good always (finally) triumphing over evil. Tintin books are almost like a fast-moving soap opera, with beloved characters reappearing in each book. "The Adventures of Tintin" is quite hilarious, and it truly is a difficult book to set down! I especially love the drawings. They seem to stand out from other graphic novels, although I haven't quite figured out why this is. I also think that Tintin is one of the most "reread" series I know of, that is, readers go back to it time and time again and still find enjoyment in it, maybe even learning something new the second or third time around. As the mother of four boys, I can attest to Tintin's longevity in the in the reading department. Also, as an educator who despises so much of the mindless (and violent) drivel put out by most graphic novel companies today, I love the fact that kids still need to use their brains when they read Tintin. I recommend any of the Tintin series to anyone wanting a fun read.

Excellent for boys!

Created: 05/10/09
The Adventures of Tintin are delightful graphic stories. I like them because they have a more in depth plot than most graphic books, and they expose children to other cultures and times. The adventures take place all over the world. The stories are interesting and exciting, and are great for boys! My boys love them. I bought the Adventures of Tintin because my boys like reading comic-like books. However, I find that most comics these days have inapporpriate pictures and even story lines. So far, I have not found anything like that with Tintin.
