Indy and the good, but not Great War
Created: 18/02/08
I bought this item because I love Indiana Jones and his life that spans an interesting point in history that I knew little about. This set comes with tons of documentaries that are well done and are packed with historical information. One of the bad things about this set is that there is only one episode of Young Indy per disc. They are movie-length episodes, however. The episodes have very good production values and are themselves very historically accurate. Some episodes drag on a bit, and I sometimes think they could have accomplished telling the story in less time. All in all, these episodes help to fill in a part of Indy's life that is interesting and builds a good backstory for the character. The material packed into this set is awesome, especially if you are interested in World War I (The Great War).

The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones - Volume 2 (2007,
Created: 04/07/08
Outstanding production values in this 1992 made-for-TV serial in 10 DVDs. This is now supplemented with at least 3 approximately 30 minute historical documentary video vignettes that are worth the price of the program by themselves. These provide further background information regarding the various characters that Indy encounters in his World War I exploits-Ernest Hemingway, Mata Hari, Lowell Thomas, Albert Schweitzer, T.E. Lawrence (of Arabia), the Red Baron, French Foreign Legion etc. Although the Indy adventures are typical India Jones exaggerated and somewhat adolescent theater, they never deviate far from historical accuracy. In short, these videos are a great introduction to early 20th century history for young students who will quickly be captivated by Indy's exploits.

A New Generation of Indy Fans...

At the time of this review, I am 44 years old. Several years ago, I got my daughter (she's 14) into the whole "Indiana Jones" trilogy of major motion pictures. When all was said and done, she hungered for more. The recent release of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" helped but it only quenched her thirst for a short time. With that we went out and purchased a couple of Indiana Jones games for our game console at home. This helped as well. However, nothing has satisfied her as much as finding out how Indy came to be the man he is today as this series. It is both educational and entertaining (and it keeps her from getting interested in boys).
Any fan of Indy will surely enjoy the full length feature films collected here.

Adverntures of Young Indiana Jones

I had forgotten about this series until I recently rewatched "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." I was then reminded of it by River Phoenix's performance as Young Indy. My husband did not know the series existed, so I decided to order one. Volume 2 was the first that came up for sale at a reasonable price so I bought it.
Wonderful production values and fun, even for old folks like us!

If you enjoyed this series while it was on TV and you have already viewed Vol.1, you're sure to like Vol. 2. Loaded with lots of extras, this 9 disc set has 8 full length episodes and 26 documentaries. Perfect for the Indian Jones fanatic!!!
