Product Information
Follow Afro Samurai as he fights to become the number one warrior, a title currently held by Justice, the man who killed Afro's father when he was a child. The game follows the plot of the original series with added material and background for fans and new comers alike.

Blood is beautiful in this hip hop infused action adventure as Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role as Afro and Ninja Ninja. A striking art style gives Afro Samurai a truly unique look and feel across beautifully animated open environments as he wages war against his adversaries to become number one. Using an innovative gameplay system, enemy AI is affected by the beat of the musical score produced by RZA of Wu-Tang Clan fame. These dynamic battles ensure stylized encounters throughout the game that affect the overall tone of gameplay. Slice and dismember opponents as Afro acrobatically leaps from one location to the next, interacting with anything and everything in the environment to help him on his journey.

    GREAT GAME

    Created: 13/07/09
If I wasn't reviewing Afro Samurai, fighting Brother 6 would have been the point where I threw the controller at the floor, screamed an obscenity, and sold the game back to GameStop. Packing a flamethrower and three separate phases to the fight, Brother 6's battle is the exact moment when Afro Samurai's super-slick visuals, awesome soundtrack, and fuzzy feeling you get from slicing bad guys in half stopped mattering to me and every one of the game's numerous flaws came together to derail the experience.

That sucks because Afro Samurai can actually be a lot of fun at times.

The story told in Afro Samurai isn't a sequel to the popular anime but more of a re-imagining of the origin we all know and love. As a child, Afro witnesses the murder of his father -- a badass swordsman -- in a duel for the No. 1 headband, which is basically the symbol of the greatest fighter on the planet. From there, Afro focuses on getting the No. 2 headband and avenging his father. On this journey, he'll make friends, make love, and make a whole lot of people die thanks to his trusty katana. The story itself is solid and intriguing, and it makes a somewhat decent appearance in the game, although if you have never seen the show, the emotional impact and the finer points of the story will be lost on you. Thankfully, Samuel L. Jackson is on hand to voice Afro and his insane sidekick Ninja Ninja.

I bought this game after seeing the cartoon. Like any game it will have its frustrating parts. Overall, this was a good hack and slash game (a lot of body pieces flying from Afro's sword) with a great a soundtrack to go along with. Ninja-Ninja was great for the comedy as you take Afro on his quest for revenge against Justice. I liked this game for what it was. A flat out fun game to play and own.

    Amazing hack and slasher

Although I'm unfamiliar with the Afro Samurai universe I'll admit a second run-thru of the game will make it more clear to me. The game is pure bliss of slo-motion action, fast paced action with tons of combos to unlock as you progress. The graphics are beautiful, with the now popular cel-shaded cartoon look. Controls are precise but only with a little glitchy moments for the jumping segments, nothing to worry about since the jump and run segments are not plentiful. Samuel L. Jackson is hilarious as Afro's alter ego, rest of the voice acting is top notch. The language is coarse and vulgar and the violence is not over-the-top as expected maybe because of the cartoony look. I absolutely love this game and will definitely try to execute some of the long combos when I beat it for the second time.

Love the graphics. Exciting game play. Definitely top twenty. Story line is interesting. Only thing I would change is need for a health bar instead of turning red. Favorite part is ease of player controls and difficulty of gameplay. Love it! Great blood spatter and special moves.
