This is the final installment in Ms. Garlock's Dolan/Henry family series. Although her books are always easy to follow and do stand-alone, to truly enjoy this story I would definitely recommend reading 'With Heart' first, as this is a continuation of Johnny and Kathleen's love story which started there. This also has many of the characters who were in 'With Hope' including Johnny's sister's Henry Ann and Isabel, along with their cousins, Pete and Jude Perry. You will also get a greater understanding of Johnny and his past/childhood if you read 'With Hope' first. For those of you who don't already know, here is the entire series and its reading order:

As always Ms. Garlock has written a wonderful tale of life in an era gone by. Her style, descriptions and dialogue are top-notch and thoroughly enthralling. I did enjoy this book though it was much sadder than I'm used to from her. Kathleen and Johnny are separated throughout the entire story, and my heart near broke for Kathleen and all she went and goes through. Johnny is still stubborn and too prideful for his own good, but I did feel for him too. Though he brings on his misery himself, he does feel he's doing the right thing for Kathleen's sake, so I couldn't fault him too much for that simple reason. Kathleen's stalker was an interesting and unique touch. The epilogue was fantastic and I was so happy to see them finally get their happy ending. Overall it was a very good series that I would definitely recommend!

) I was excited to get the second book to see how the author used the characters in this book. I enjoyed reading the book. Hate to not read all the books in a series, so this satisfied my curiosity.

I bought this for my mother, she was reading the series. After reading this book she was sorry the series ended.
