a true help when building or modifying a VW engine

Created: 01/06/10
a valuable resource when building an air cooled VW engine, especially since new old stock parts are getting harder to find, (not to mention when you find nos parts you need a fat wallet). I have a 64 type1 and a 73 type2 that I use this reference manual for constantly. Highly recommend this for any air cooled VW enthusiast.

if your hopping up a VW engine for the first time, this an exelent book to look at. lots of info in here about whats good for hot street and what parts are for all out drag racing. Only downside is theres not too much info for turboing.

Excellant publication

Created: 07/10/09
The 2 year wait for this publication was worth it. I saw it as the only book which went into a fair amount of detail. Despite it being of 1996 vintage it is still very relevant in 2009.
Even though the author describes various commercially available components in each chapter, he does not necessarily promote one in particular. Rather he advises a choice on which components are best suited for certain applications.
Very descriptive text and great clear sizable photos.
I like the easy to read common language explanations.
The price was good value from the vendor given it was an international transaction of purchase.
