Movie synopsis
The spoof comedy that set the gold standard for all that followed it, AIRPLANE takes shots at the slew of disaster movies that peppered cinemas in the 70s. When the passengers and crew of a jet are incapacitated due to food poisoning, a rogue pilot (who has a drinking problem and is afraid of flying) must cooperate with his ex-girlfriend turned stewardess to bring the plane to a safe landing. No disaster flick cliche is left unroasted, and the musical score itself takes a less than reverent look at overly melodramatic compositions.

) Airplane! is still the best comedy film ever made, even after all these years. It has it all: slapstick, puns, sight gags, big stars, easy-to-follow plot. What more could anyone ask for? No other movie has been quoted more times ("...and don't call me Shirley"). The writing is as crisp and sharp as it was in 1980, when the movie first came out. This is an important addition to any DVD library. Buy it and watch it again and again. I did!

Family Fun for All

This laugh a minute film was bought for a Christmas gift as laughter is the best medicine. The younger generation doesn't even remember Airport, the Hollywood hit of the '70's but that doesn't matter with this parody on such a serious matter as a plane hijacking.
Leslie Nielsen is such a goofy guy in such an innocent way. He seems so dumb and is oblivious to his own stupidity. This movie helps to take off his career into other sensations, which include Airplane 2 and the Naked Gun One and Two. Teach your teens what oldie but goodie is with this classic.

Airplane! "Don't Call Me Shirley" Is so Funny!!!!

Airplane! (DVD, 2005, "Don't Call Me Shirley" Edition/ Widescreen) is one of the funnest movies I've seen in a while. There was not a dull moment in the whole movie. The Cast was outstading and I am so glad I bid on and won this Dvd.
