Alfred Hitchcock - The Legend Begins (DVD, 2007, 4-Disc Set)

From my early life and to my present, Alfred Hitchcock has been one of my favorite movie director/producer of all time. He has excelled many of his rank and is known worldwide for the masterpieces that he created. This collection displays his mastermind and ingenuity in all facets of movie making. Even the silent films are full of feeling - laughter, pain, love, joy, fear, sorrow, awakening....etc. Hitchcock was able to capture the attention and grab hold to the feelings of his audience in ways unlike any other. Even today, in movies such as "Signs" other movie producers like to imitate his superb way of getting audiences to fear without all of today's blood baths in movies. When imitating the style of Hitchcock, movie directors reach a higher level of creativity and rating. I am very pleased to have this selection of Alfred Hitchcock early creative work and masterpieces. This selection is one to be added to one's collection of superb memorabilia.

I bought my set on ebay for 99cents. Search hard before you pay silly prices. The set contains everything available of Hitch's British output (his best). The cine to dvd transfers are not good e.g. top of people's heads cut off, side edges missing etc. There is a hum on the soundtrack of JAMAICA INN. The prints used have obviously been round the block many many times. BUT where else will you see these films? And so cheap! Comments such as "not in colour" and "you have to stop and read the title cards on the silents" are obviously made by viewers with expectations formed by today's cinema, rather than movie buffs. However the movie buffs will continue to wait for restored versions to be issued on DVD (or whatever media will be used in future). This set will have to suffice for now.

I got hooked on Alfred Hitchcock in the 1960's when I was a child. I would stay with my grandmother, and she would let me stay up late and watch the shows with her. The "Legends Series" brings back so many memories. There is something about watching the Alfred Hitchcock black and white movies that just make them great and remind you of days gone by. If you are a fan of the "Master of Suspense", you have to get this DVD Set. Kick back on a stormy night and let your senses run wild!

Hitchcock's movies are all good! My favorite are his earlier movies but the latter that are in color are good too. His movies with Grant are wonderful. He made many with him and I have never understood why Grant didn't get a Oscar. He was by far the best actor in many of his films. Those days are gone and nothing in the present can compare.

The item is brand new. If you like old movies then this is one of the best buys. I thought the movies were the episodes from when he had his television show. However, the movies are great, Plus, I didn't know Alfred Hitchcock was around way back when silent films were made. He must have been up in age when I was little. He always left me in suspense.
