Marvin, What happened ?

Created: 12/02/09
Because I love Marvin so much I started to just write a good review. Then I realized that would not help him. The truth is always best. There is a song about spiders crawling up a wall. The CD starts off with a Marvin Gaye hook. I dont need that. I listened and hoped for at least one good song, it never happened.I have seen Marvin Winans blow up a microphone. He can take a song in the hymn book and literally lift it off the page (see the youtube video Pastor Marvin Winans and Pastor Donnie McClurkin). I have seen different Pastors in church just walk up to Marvin Winans and unexpectantly hand him a microphone and he boldly proclaimed Gods praises.

Something happened on this CD that leaves me wondering. I know for a fact that Marvin Winans could get a piano player, a drummer and a list of hymns and do something a whole lot better than this project.

Terrific CD

Created: 07/10/08
I love the CD. Marvin outdid himself. It was different hearing him in a solo setting, but I appreciated him maintaining his contemporary yet soulful sound. I highly recommend this CD for any of you Winans fans. The entire Winans family has been blessed with a spiritual voice that connects across the world. I've loved them since I remember playing with Barbies.

Contemporary Gospel For Grown Ups

Created: 03/01/08
What I like most, besides Marvin Winan's singing and songwriting is the musical arrangements. Most songs include horn and string sections and the rhythm section keeps things moving nicely along. It has a nice mix of up and mid tempo songs and ballads without being to fast or too slow. His guest vocalists and background singers are also exceptional. Only dislike is that the feel or tone of a couple songs seem to change in an odd way. This is a highly professional sounding CD with few exceptions.

A great Cd. This is one of the best Cd's that Marvin has ever done. The music is tight and up to date and the vocals and arrangements are absolutely great. Keep up the good work!
